What could Effie stand for?
I like the nickname Effie, but I don't really like Euphemia. What are some names that Effie could be a nickname for? I'd just like to know what people think, to use in stories and such.
Thanks!

I figure to have a nickname, the full name must be worse. So here's one. Oighrig is a Scottish Gaelic name meaning "new speckled one." It's Anglicized version is Effie. Mic drop.

Ethel, Ethelind, Ethan (for a boy) and Ethelyn.

Josephine
Seraphine/Seraphina
Elizabeth
Efstraria Alternatively you could use the initials FE (like Fleur Emily) and use Effy as a nickname.

I'm the reverse of you, can't stand Effie love Euphemia. How about Efmeralda. It comes from someone misreading EsmeraldaMaybe any F name. Felicity has the "eh" sound right up there at the front... idk bit of a stretch. Can't think of any good answers, came to suggest Euphemia lol.
