My daughter’s name is
Maeve (
Maeve Audrey Marion) so I’m obviously biased on how much I love it. It’s soft and yet spunky.
Maeve means intoxicating but when you read about the connection to mead and how that was tied to a symbol of ruling power it becomes even more interesting. It’s a name with layers.
My DH and I do not plan on having a nickname for her but my parents have taken to calling her Maevie. She’s only one and a half but she calls herself
May or
May May. I think Maevie is cute but it’s hard to imagine on an adult. Warning if you ever use
Maeve that, if you live around those who are not familiar with Irish names, she will often be mistaken as
May or
Mavis.
Maeve has no siblings but I think about names for one all the time. From your list I like/love:
Maeve ArabellaMaeve BeatrixMaeve ImogenMaeve IrisMaeve OliviaMaeve Sophia
I think a name with more than one syllable is great with
Maeve. DH’s family use two middle names so we kept that tradition. I was pushing hard for
Maeve Euphemia but it was no dice from DH, haha.
From your sibling names I like the following the best:
Maeve,
Aiden,
IslaMaeve,
Felix,
ElsieMaeve,
Ellis,
PhoebeMaeve,
Hugo,
Darcy
That’s pretty much every combo! I think since
Maeve is so Irish you either have to continue the thread or temper with names that balance out the sound/single syllable without being matchy.
Sibling names I love for
Maeve are
Basil,
Hugo,
Oscar,
Petra,
Ursa, and
Nora.
