I feel like that it could, even if the names aren't related- I actually think the anagram gives it a cool, hidden meaning of its origin story (for a potential daughter's name).
On the other hand, I'm not a huge fan of the name
May, because it's the name of a spring month. Also, speaking from experience here (my name is
William, and I have always gone by "
Will"), having a word name can be confusing; the word "may" is used commonly in the English language (in phrases such as "You may go now" or "There may be a party later this evening". I can't express how many times I've tripped myself up when people use the word "will" in a sentence, lol). Despite that, I really enjoy the sound, appearance, and classiness of
May- it seems that not many use this name anymore, and it also reminds me of Pokémon which is great!
I do enjoy the flexibility that
May offers when making combinations and think that all of your choices flow nicely. These are my favorites from the list, however:

In order to honor your parents, may I suggest some more combination ideas?

Valerie's "strength" and
Amanda's "love". It also includes both of your parent's first names!)
