I was into a heck of a lot more eccentric, biblical names when I was still
Christian. I was really into the idea of using
Hezekiah as a boy name for a while. I also really loved
Zacchaeus. I still like
Zacchaeus (pronounced as za-Kay-us over za-Key-us) but it's notably lower on the lists since my deconstruction. Honestly, this is the first time I remembered I was into it in months. The good thing about a lot of biblical names is that a lot are popular outside of the religion.
David,
Sarah,
Elizabeth and
James you could find any which where and place under the sun.
Hezekiah,
Hadassah, or
Zacchaeus, probably less so. I first fell in love with
Evangeline when I was still very, Very conservative
Christian as a preteen. I still intend to use it if I have a daughter unless my partner hated it fierily.
Evangeline, though connected to evangelists / Christianity and indoctrination, does at times rub me the wrong way... especially considering my own religious trauma, but my love for it exists removed from that. I still sort of believe in a god, or I should say a higher power or collective. To me, I transitioned to loving it in a way that means "good news from the other side", such as good news from my late loved ones. That feels more powerful to me than the proselytism implications.
Please rate my "Names I would Use" list & "Backup Favorites" list. Feel free to rate some of my other lists too if you have the time.
