[Opinions] Anastasia
What do you think of Anastasia? (ah-nah-stah-SEE-yah)What nickname do you like best for it? I am loving Nastia.Any middle name suggestions for Anastasia? I prefer Scandinavian names but nothing too out there like Ingeborg or Gunvor or something of that sort.

Not a fan. And I haaaate Nastia. It's my #2 worst nickname. Sorry. I just... ick. Hideous. It provokes an almost physical reaction in me.While I hate Anastasia a rediculous amount (It's one of my pet hates), Asya is the only nn of about twenty thousand Russian Anastasia/Anastasiya (It's stupidly common, especially in Moscow) that I can stomach. I'd dislike it, but it makes Anastasia okay. I'm sorry, but it's horrible. I just...Middle names:

Asya! I'd never heard of that one before. Love it.

It looks like they're trying to follow the American trend of using place names.

I prefer it pronounced ANNA-staysha.I don't like the NN Nastia, simply for the fact that it would be easy to call her Nasty. How about...Anastasia Gudrun
Anastasia Bronwen

I've always thought Ingrid or Astrid would make good sisters for an Anastasia. Maybe Josephine?

I knew an Anastasia who pronounced it the way you do, and she's constantly having to tell people how to prn it her way. I wouldn't really mind, though. I think that a hard to prn name is much better than a name that's spelled a thousand different ways. Anyway, I love the sound of Anastasia, prnd both ways. As someone suggested before, I think Asya would be an adorable nn.Anastasia Cathrine (cah-treen)

I prefer ah-nah-STAH-see-ah, but ah-nah-stah-SEE-yah is infinitely nicer than ann-uh-STAY-zha.Nastia is just WAY too nasty, though. My favorite nickname is Anya. I don't know if it's used in Russian for Anastasia, but I think it works perfectly. Ana / Anna would be my second choice.Anastasia Sunniva

Too long and frilly for my tastes. I only like it pronounced "ah-nah-STAH-see-yuh" and like Ana or Sia best as a nn

Love it, especially ah-nah-STAH-see-uh. NNS: I like Annie, Anya, Annie, Stasia.

I don't mind Anastasia but I think it sounds a bit too princessy and frilly. I also think of the singer Anastasia.I say it "ana-STAY-ze-uh" but some say "ana-STAH-zyuh" - I haven't heard it pronounced your way but I prefer it to "ana-STAH-zyuh".I think Nastia is a strange nickname, which I would avoid - it looks like the word "nasty" and sounds (to me) like "nastier". I would use Ana or Ania as a nickname.

I work in a hospital and there was this nurse named Anastasia. Her colleagues would make fun of her and call her anesthesia, lol. Lots of pts have heard her name and freaked out, thinking that they were going to be "put to sleep."
