I pronounce Maya/Maia as "my-a". I've never heard it pronounced as "me-ah" before. I think I have heard it pronounced "may-a" once or twice.I prefer it spelled Maya.Isla, Amelia & Maia are great names on their own, but a bit of a tongue twister if you say them together quickly.
Mn could be:
Maia Charlotte
Isla Marie
Amelia Jane (not very original I know, lol)Other siblings for Isla & Amelia could be:
Olivia, Sophia, Madeleine, Camilla, Sarah, Clara, Gabriella, Lucinda.

How do you pronouce Maya/Maia? I pronounce Maia & Maya as MIE-a, however I have seen Maya pronounced as MAY-a as well.I personally prefer the spelling Maia and think that it is a beautiful name.I'm not a big fan of Isla, but it is pretty and sounds nice with Amelia, and Amelia sounds nice with Maia, but I think that Isla and Maia may have too similar of a sound.

1/ In both cases, I say MY-uh.2/ I like Maia and Maya about equally; my spelling of choice would be Mya. And Myah is somewhat of a guilty pleasure.3/ Isla, Amelia and Maia ... Well Amelia stands out as being a little dull, and I find Isla beautiful but overused._____________________________________________________________________Elinor

Maya is an Indian name meaning illusion and is pronounced "May-a"However I would pronounce Maia like "My-a"The pronounciation depends on how you spell it :-)

Well, I'm biased, because my mn is Maya :-)
I prefer the spelling Maya, it just looks nicer. But there is also the spelling Maja which is pretty too.
I live in Germany and it is pronounced MA-ya, in Scotland, where the rest of my family lives, it is also pronounced like that.I think Isla, Amelia and Maya would make a nice sibset, if that is what you mean. As mn what about Isla Corinne, Amelia Josephine and Maya Therese.

I believe the "correct" pronunciation is MYE-ah. MAY-ah just seems too phonetic and kre8tiv imo. I like both of these spellings, but slightly prefer Maia. I detest Mya. :( Isla & Maia/Maya are a little too similar sounding for siblings imo. Isla & Amelia or Amelia & Maia sound fine, though. I'm partial to the name Isla, btw. :b LOL. To go with Isla & Amelia, how about:
Lydia
Maeve
Fiona
Cecily
Georgia
Gemma
Rosalind / Rosalie
Helena
Miranda

I always pronounced Maya M-eye-ah
As for Isla, Amelia and Maya, Maya strikes me as a nn for Amelia (as Mia is a common nn for it), and I think Maya is a little rhymy with Isla, but within acceptability.
sibsets-
maybe Isla, Amelia, and Anna
Isla, Amelia, and Maria
Isla, Amelia, and Adria
Isla, Amelia, and Olivia ?

I would only pronounce it "My-ah". The spelling Mya looks ambigious to me; is it pronounced as "my-a" or as Mia (mee-a)?I think the spelling depends on which Maya you want. - Maia: The Roman (or Greek) goddess of spring. The month May was named after her.
- Maya:
1) Name of Native American tribe (Mexico),
2) Jewish, from mayim (water)
3) Sanskrit "illusion"Then there is the Scandinavian name Maja (pronounced as Maya), which was a pet name for Maria but used as a formal name now. I find Isla and Maya a bit rhyming b/c of the same vowel sounds ("eye" and "a").

I see Maia and Maya as two different names - Maia as in the Roman goddess, and Maya as either an Indian or a Jewish name. However, I pronounce the two the same way, MY-yah. I personally prefer Maya out of the two because the spelling looks nicer, even though I do love the muthological association of Maia. Isla, Amelia, and Maya (this spelling, not the other one) would make a nice sib set.

m-eye-ah (long i)is how I pronounce it. I really like this name, and prefer the spelling Maia. If you like this, you might be interested to know about Naia, which, according to one source I have, is Hawaiian for dolphin. Naia was one of the rare names on both my and my husband's lists last time - but we had Gideon Brody instead. :)
