My name is Bethany... I rather like it, it's different but not too out-there and I think it fits fairly well.
The problem is with people calling me Brittany (including on particularly uncaring principal at my Catholic grade school, who then announced an accomplishment of mine at a parish Mass, leaving me to fight an urge to strangle the innocent parishoners who came up to me afterward to say, "Congratulations, Brittany... yes I'm still bitter) or, if they don't hear me right, Stephanie (which I truly dislike).
They also tend to nickname me Beth, which I don't like at all. I much prefer Bee, but according to many of the people I tell so, that's not a valid nickname.
My middle name is Nicole, which I love. My sisters and I all have slightly unusual middle names, which I attribute to the fact that my parents' middle names are Marie and Michael.
