It's dated like Steven is dated. It's a little more usable because Steve is so stereotyped now, and Mark is not so much. But still, a dad/grampa name. I would not use Mark with a K for a son. But, it's usable.
I would use Marcus, called Marc. I really like Marc. It gives me a very different impression from Mark. Evokes the word mark much less, evokes the Bible ever so much less - seems more classic than Biblical; and just isn't as dated.
Markus is not so great IMO in English because it's mark us.
Marcel is something totally other. Seems less heroic and more artsy or comic.
There's Marcellus, and Mars.
