Arabella nn Arlie?
Could Arlie work as a nickname for Arabella? Lately Arabella has been growing on me but I do not care for the nickname Bella. I pronounce Arabella like "air-uh-Bella" and Arlie to rhyme with Charlie.

That's an awesome nickname for Arabella! It works really well, it's so cute. I really like Bella and Belle too, but Arlie is a nice, more unusual nn.

Absolutely. I mean, Jack is a nn for John, Polly is a nn for Mary, Peggy is a nn for Margaret, and Bill (and by extension Billy) is a nn for William, after all, so you can basically do whatever you like. I can at least see the connection between Arabella and Arlie. ;)Other possible nn's for Arabella: Belle, Ara, Ari. But I like Arlie just fine.

To me, it sounds a bit weird to give Arlie as a nickname for Arabella when you pronounce it 'air-uh-bella' since Arlie would have been pronounced 'air-lee' if that's the case. Other than that, I'm fine with someone named Arabella calling herself Arlie.

I prefer Isabella to Arabella, but Arabella is a nice alternative. Arlie sounds too childish to my hears, though.
