Abby and Calvin met while Abby was visiting a cousin in England. Abby had asked Calvin for some directions, and Calvin had been a complete gentleman about it, even offering to take her there. They soon started dating, got married two years later, and they now live together in Manchester.

Since they weren’t quite ready to have kids yet, Abby and Calvin have decided to adopt a puppy. Abby looked through the classifieds in the newspaper while Calvin searched online, until they found an adorable English cocker spaniel puppy looking for a good home. Gracie had been seized by animal control after being abandoned in an empty house, and Abby and Calvin were more than happy to adopt her. She’s a very sweet girl, and she’s responding excellently to obedience training. Gracie’s only problem is that she’s a chewer, but Abby and Calvin are working to break her habit.

Abby has sadly divorced Calvin due to incorrigible differences. They have tried marriage counseling, but to no avail. In the settlement, Abby claimed their house and everything they purchased together, including Gracie. She also just got married to another guy, Jasper Elliott. Abby was nervous about Jasper’s relationship with dogs, but was relieved when he said he was a dog lover. Gracie is still getting used to Jasper, but Abby thinks she’ll grow to love him.
Year 3: Miscellaneous – someone dies who isn’t in immediate family
As if her divorce wasn’t bad enough, Abby just found out that her grandma has died of a stroke. Jasper and everyone at Abby’s workplace were very sympathetic about it, and one of the news anchors even bought her a nice card. The funeral was the week after Abby got the news, and she wept the whole time.
Year 4: Finances – inheritance
One good thing that came out of Grandma Hendrickson’s passing was that Abby has inherited her money. That meant she and Jasper could finally afford a house with a bigger yard for Gracie.

They were so thrilled with their adoption experience with Katie that Abby and Jasper have decided to adopt again. This time, they settled on a five-year-old boy from Nigeria named Olufemi Idowu. Since his name would be hard to pronounce in England, Abby and Jasper shortened it to Femi and gave him their last name, Elliott. Femi only goes by his given name when he’s in trouble.
