[Opinions] Sela
Sela "SEE-luh"I'm falling back in love with this name and could really see myself using it. Just looking for general thoughts and opinions. Is it usable? Would you anticipate pronunciation problems? Combo ideas also welcome. Thanks! photo image_zps50478a13.jpg

I think it is unusual, but definitely usable. It has a simple spelling, a relatively intuitive pronunciation (people may mess it up the first time that read it, but it's not a confusing correction), and a nice enough meaning.Sela Katelijn came to mind.

I love it. I would use it if there was any chance that I could talk my husband into it.I immediately think of Sela Ward: http://www.selawardtv.com/ , see-la is how she pronounces her name. There might be a little bit of an issue with pronunciation, but I think it will be minor. People will mispronounce everything - Haven gets pronounced hav-veen and hah-vin instead of have-in.I'd use Sela Judith.

I don't like it but I don't mind it

I enjoy it. I would love to meet one. I think any pronunciation problems would be fixed with one correction. I see it as no different to a correction on which pronunciation of Helena you use, it wouldn't be overly burdensome. It is definitely useable IMO. It's never been near my top names and I always forget about it but I like the idea of using it personally to honour my Dad, Peter, as the names mean 'rock' and 'stone' respectively. I need to give it some more thought, thanks for reminding me of it!

Sorry, but all I hear is "cellar".

Even though it's pronounced with a long 'E'?

I adore it, though I tend to soften the e into something more like "SEL-uh".It's the SCA name of a very dear friend of mine so I have nothing but positive associations.

I love it.I have admired it for quite a while, more so than Selah, which I also like, but Sela is lighter and prettier. I would not anticipate any problems being named Sela. My friend named her daughter Mae Sela. She is about 2 or 3 now I guess. Cute child.

Fine, short and sweet, prefer pronunciation Seh-la
