Only problem: is it pronounced as "lee-la" or as "lie-la"?

I'd like Lila May, Lila Fay, Lila Joy or Lila Jane.

- Racial? She is Swedish!
- Maybe he called her Meatball.

I'd automatically say LIE-la. I'd be even more sure of that if the spelling was Lilah (which also looks prettier imo). In Sweden, I really can't guess how people would pronounce it at first glance. There's also Lyla, like the Oasis song, but I don't think that looks as attractive as the others.

ETA: I know a girl who spells it Leila and says LIE-la, too. But I'd be more inclined to say Leila as LAY-la for some reason. :Shrug:
Would Leila be LIE-la, phonetically, in Swedish? I know it would in German but I suppose that's not much help. Or how about Laila?

I'm in the midwestern U.S., and I've always heard Leila pronounced LIE-la. That's the only spelling for LIE-la that I like, but I think people would prn. it as LAY-la, which I don't like.

You want the Lie-lah pronunciation but I think the other one is as legitimate. So the name might be mispronounced.

I think you would get the right pronunciation always if you spelt it Lilah or Lyla. But then people would misspell it instead. ;)

This is the only way i've ever heard it pronounced, so no, i don't think it would be a problem.

I'm in the U.S., like Shelby, and I've only ever seen Lila pronounced LIE-la, so I don't think it would be an issue. I think Lilah or Lyla would cause more problems with spelling than Lila would with pronunciation.
