Unfortunately, I know two Indias and have bad associations with both.
However, I think that India is one of the better place names and is a pretty name in its own right.I don't think that India Jane is too cliche. It seems kind of Colonial to me with India being combined with a very English mn.India Lee
India Kate
India Beth
India June
India Shea
India Neve
India Brooke

I like it, but it's on par with Ireland to me. I think the parents should only use it if 1. they're Indian ethnically, 2. they've lived in or were born in India, regardless of their ethnicity, or 3. they've at least visited India, and liked the place.India Jane is much fresher today than India Rose.

I agree, India Jane is 'fresher' and I do intend on visiting India so mayeb it will hold special memories for me if I intend on eventually using the name :)alice x

I do like this name. I'm not crazy about the association with Gone with The Wind (romance novels are so cheesy), but I can separate it and the sound alone is lovely. A similar name that I have always loved unreservedly is Indira. I wouldn't use a mn that is a noun. India Rose reminds me too much of Georgia Peach, Washington Apple, China Jade, etc. Jane is too vanilla next to India. Something French or Spanish seems to be closer to the exotic flavor of India, without being too "out there." How about: India Sophie
India Emanuelle
India Anais
India Melisande
India Elisabeth
India Lisette
India Dominique
India Esme
India Gisele
India Alexandrine
India Evaine
India Eugenie (my favorite)
India Celestine
India Christiane
India Pilar
India Ines (I like the alliteration)
India Carmen
India Corazon
India Alamar
