Adelina - so much more delicate and pretty IMO than any other "addle" name. Ah-deh-LEE-na vs. uh-Della and Addle-line.
Alban is nice. Aubin is odd.
Angela. Angeline seems prissy, Angelique too French for me to say right, Angelica too "angelic"
Augustine is cool.
Asher is a real firstname, unlike Ashton and Ashley which are trendy surnames
Aleksey - hyperrussian
Alexis - OK for a woman
Alexae - wth.
Bella is much namier than Belle.
Branwen vs. Bronwen - I think Bronwen sounds more pleasant. Both are nice.
Casper - actually Caspar.
Cassandra, Cassia - I like both.
Cerys is more usable IMO than Charis, and prettier than Carys. I say Charis and Carys "CAR-iss" and Cerys "CAIR-iss"
Clarisse is nice; I prefer Clarice. Charisse evokes Syd Charisse - so 70s.
on girls
Amadeus - no, it's a masculine form .. Amadea would be nice.
Brandon - hahah! no. I like Brandy, though.
Barclay - ugh. Makes me think of banks and cigars and stuff.
Clay - possible. Not appealing to me personally
Damien - eh. I guess. nms
Edmond - blah. Edmonde maybe
Elvis - har. no
Ezra - I could see it.
Jasper - possible, but annoying.
Jonah - possible, but annoying.
Sterling - possible.
Toby - ugh, it's a dogname. For a boy dog.
Urban - not really.
on boys
Alice - like Alice Cooper. Punky. I think Alis is OK on boys but not Alice.
Amaryllis - possible, but seems unfortunate!
Briseis - no, reminds too much of bris on a boy
Carol - it's been done.
Constance - yeah
Elrose - I guess.
Iris - nope.
Jade - I've seen it. Didn't like
Lumi - ? dunno. Seems foreign enough that I would not have much "wrong gender reaction"
Marie - eh, not alone. Maybe in combination (Pierre-Marie etc).
Xanthe - blah, no.
My gender transgression GPs are: Merlin f, Devon f, Meredith "muh-RED-ith" m, Kelsey m, Jory f, Vivian m, Laurence f, Jay f, Forest f, Drew f, Diamond m, Hollis f, River f
