Virginia
I feel like a discussion of Virginia is warrented today, because I haven't be able to have as much enthusiasm for any other female name at present. I feel like Virginia has every quality that makes me admire a name, with the added bonus of not being overused. It is also my great-grandmother's name -- sort of. Her name was Virgie Estelle. It could honor her. It also really complements Susanna, and I think those two would make admirable sisters.Favorite combos:Virginia Rose
Virginia Frances
Virginia Margaret
Virginia Ruth
Virginia Catherine
Virginia AliceI have many other combos with Virginia in the middle name spot, notably Alice Virginia, Grace Virginia, and Ruth Virginia, which I adore, but I don't think I am at a stage where I could only use it in the middle name position. It might be reaching for my number 1 spot.

Virginia is a beautiful name. I like Virginia Ruth or Virginia Alice best among your combos. I do think a Virginia would be teased as a child, though. On the other hand, I guess unless your name is something incredibly common, teasing happens.... Then the vast majority of us mature and any teasing becomes a distant memory.

It is a beautiful name - and exactly, teasing becomes a distant memory.

I like Virginia. Not a favorite of mine, but I can appreciate it.

I love Virginia 'Ginny'. I like Virginia Alice.

I also really like Virginia, despite it being not my usual type of name. It just flows so beautifully, and I love its strength and poise. It's sort of a "conservative" name, but it's got some spice to it, like Vivian does. I rather like Rita Virginia or Virginia Rita as a combo, after my great grandmother Rita, who had that same icy, reserved elegance with an undercurrent of fire. Or Virginia Marguerite :)Of your combos, I really enjoy Virginia Rose and Virginia Catherine (though I confess to preferring Virginia Katharine, because the name Virginia really epitomizes that Hepburn style), and Virginia Alice.Virginia and Susanna would be lovely as sisters! So lyrically colonial.

I want to like Virginia, but can't ever since my little brother pronounced it Vagina and didn't stop for YEARS.

I like Virginia a lot. It has that vintage vibe, yet is totally recognizable and has cultural and literal appeal. I have an Aunt with the name who goes by Ginni, so I might be biased. Still, I always thought it worth a second look. Of your combos, I am digging Virginia Alice a lot. It's just a charming and innocent pairing. Virginia Rose also has the delicate appeal, though all of your combos actually flow well. I agree that Virginia and Susanna would be a nice sibset. It might not be your style, but before I read the post in full I thought you might ask for combos and thought of Virginia Mavis right away.

I agree, I think Virginia is one of the most perfect names. I think some people subconsciously find it overly conservative, or at least I used to, partly because of the word "virgin" and partly just because it seems old fashioned. Now I think it shines with patriotism and feminine strength, and I'm glad I've come to appreciate it this way.My go to is Virginia Laure, honoring my sister Laura. One of my favorite combos when I was more into two middle name combos was Alice Virginia Laure, which I now find a bit much, but still appreciate from afar. Some more theme-y combos I'm into are Virginia Glory and Virginia Cardinal.I love the nickname Ginger too, it's snappy and cool. Think about Ginger Frances! But I would be hesitant to use it since I hear it as a derogatory term way too often. I lean toward Genie these days, but I'm also happy with no nickname at all.

I have a bias for and against Virginia because it's my sister's name. She's never liked it: a lot of people make comments to her about it being a state, and the "virgin" association can get annoying.I do sort of like it because I associate it with my sister, but it's better as a middle name imo; as a first name, I like it most when used with nn Ginger.Virginia Rose and Virginia Ruth are my favorites of your combos.

I should like Virginia because it has similarities to my number one, Victoria. Starts with a V, long, ends with "ia". Yet I despise Virginia. Unbearably clunky. A horse-like woman comes to mind.

Makes sense to me. My older sister and I are Virginia & Victoria. I'm fine with my name, but she felt like Virginia was dowdy when we were growing up.

Virginia Emmeline
Virginia Lily (I actually don't really like Lily at all but I kinda like this)
Virginia Caroline

I like Virginia Violet! I was thinking Virginia Vivian would be nice too but maybe had too many V's happening. Louise Virginia is gorgeous. I also love Emily Virginia...I think Emily might be seriously growing on me ever since meeting a dog named Emily. It's just such a warm, kind name!
