Re: Some names I've been meaning to get feedback on... (f)
Adele - I like it. I prefer Adelaide, Adela or Alice, but all the forms of this name are pretty to me. Something about the "del-" sound I like.Aria - I am not a fan of this name at all. There's something about it that feels trashy to me. I'm ok with the similar sounding Ariana & Ariadne, however. Jacqueline / Jackie - I love this name. It is on my list as well. This spelling is the best in my opinion. I read a book called "Easy" recently, and every time I read that book it makes me fall in love with the name Jacqueline all over again. It is the main character's name. It sounds so elegant and graceful.Jade - I am biased with this name, as I knew a mean Jade in high school. She ruined it for me. If I try to be objective, it is still not a name I would add to my list, as I'm not a huge fan of mineral/crystal/precious stone names. That being said, when it comes to those types of names, I think I like the sound of Jade due to its similarity in sound to Jane. It sounds like a fresher, more youthful-sounding version of Jane.Maria / Marie - The name Marie was actually just on my mind. Here, Marie is overused as both a middle name and a double-barreled name. I can't tell you how many women named Marie-France, Marie-Philip, Marie-Claude or Marie-Luce I know. But I was considering Marie as just a first name, alone, by itself. It sounds so simple, yet strong, and it could be paired with so many middle names. Maria is beautiful too, but I do prefer it pronounced like Mariah. Opal - I don't mind this name. I was thinking of using it to honour my brother, who was born in October (Opal is October's birthstone). It floats on and off my list. I can never quite commit to it. Paloma - I happen to love this name, but I don't have any connection whatsoever to Spanish-speaking cultures. It is beautiful though, and I'd love to see it used in person.Pomona - I really like this name too. I love most goddess names. I think it'd be a great way to stand out without being weird. Sasha - I actually do not like Sasha for a girl. I prefer the spelling Sacha and I prefer it on a boy. It always makes me think of Sacha Trudeau (Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's brother).Zaynab - I'm not huge fan. I prefer Zenobia. It does have a pretty meaning though.
