I love Elena, and Estella. Elizabeth is also gorgeous, but I've always preferred Elisabeth, the biblical spelling. I think Elise and Evelyn are pretty too, just not favourites. The rest are nns. Have you thought of Elora, Elara, Emilia?

Evelyn: for a girl, I prefer Aveline or just Eve, I'm not too found of EV-ə-lin. I love EEV-lin though, especially for a boy.
Elizabeth: conventional, but inoffensive. I like the wide variety of nicknames.
Enid: looks offbeat, I never know whether it should be EE-nid, which I like; or EH-nid, which I dislike.
Elena: sounds like it what created in a lab and has none of Helen's appeal.
Elise: a limp francophile name, I suspect it will go the way of Nicole.
Estella: as frail as Estelle, and much more frosty.
Edwina: I like Edwin a lot for a boy, but can't stand the "ween" sound in Edwina. It's so tweedy.
Ernestine: I don't think it's ready for a comeback. Ernestine is a good-natured but almost ridiculously unattractive teashop owner.

Most to least favourite, with comments...Evelyn - a long-time favourite and my cousin's daughter's name
Enid - I love this more and more, it might creep on to my top list
Elise - sweet and simple
Elizabeth - a classic
Estella - nice
Elena - fine but a bit plain
Edwina - it sounds whiny to me
Ernestine - It just doesn't grab me at all

Favorite
Edwina is cute. I like the nickname Winnie.
Elizabeth is timeless. So many nicknames!
Elena is adorable. I like the nickname Laney.
Evelyn is sweet. I prefer the Ev-vel-lyn pronounciation.
Elise makes me think of Für Elise.
Enid is interesting. I like that it's short.
Estella is good, but I'd probably go with Stella.
Ernestine is clunky and still sounds old to me. Ernest makes me think of Ernest P. Worrell.

Elizabeth - I'm a fan. Used it as my daughter's first mn, supposedly after her step-grandmother but mostly for its classic beauty.
Enid - warm and gentle; almost but not quite suited to a girlfriend of Bertie Wooster's.
Evelyn - if and only if it's EEVlin. Then it shortens to Eve, which is also excellent.
Edwina - definitely OK; I quite like Edwin for a boy (once knew a very dishy one)
Elise - pronounced ehLEES here, unless it's Elize, which I prefer.
Ernestine - well, Ernest is a family name though now disused, and it could I suppose become Tina.
Estella and Elena - both remarkable for sheer awfulness. Can't put a pin between them. Stella and Helen are so lovely: why would anyone prefer these two flops?

A lot of these, it depends on the pronunciation as to how well I like them.Evelyn (ev-ih-lin): Classic & ages well
Edwina (eh-dwee-nah): Strong, unflappable, and unique
Elena (ah-lay-nuh): Beautiful
Ernestine (er-ness-teen): Better than Ernest!
Estella: I prefer Estelle
Enid: Old
Elise (ih-lee-ss): What you sign to rent a house
Elizabeth: Never liked it

Edwina: There is no redeeming feature to this name. It's a feminized version of a weaselly male name, it had the unattractive dw sound, and an even uglier ween sound.
Elena: This is very pretty, just about timeless, ageless and multicultural.
Elise: Trying hard to be elegant and graceful but always souns stuck-up to me.
Elizabeth: Yeah yeah yeah, it's classic blah blah blah, it's got a load of nns, blah blah blah, it's strong blah blah blah. It's still a big crashing bore.
Enid: Supremely ugly in look and sound.
Ernestine: Nowhere near as bad as Edwina but still not good.
Estella: I'ts pretty but both Stella and especially Estelle are prettier.
Evelyn

E namesE is genelly my favorite initial for girls there are literally tons of E female names I love. I love Estella and Elizabeth best of these. Very classy and spirited. I like Enid but it always reminds me of an insect for some reason, particularly praying mantis and I am not for sure why. Perhaps due to similar to aphid. I don't mind Elise and Edwina they just aren't my favorites of Es. Elena is very boring to me and I overlook it completely on every list I see it in. Not harmful just flavorless and boring. I really dislike Ernestine it just seems harsh, I do not mind the similar Eglantine as much in comparison. Evelyn I just do not like at all and I went from mild dislike to major dislike. In part because everyone and their mother ik IRL says "just use Evelyn instead!" Antime I mention wanting to use Evangeline because they dislike it's "eccentricity" and think Evelyn is inherently better because it is more popular. But I don't like it. All I hear is Evil Lynn. But that's life living in a hyper conservative community for you I guess. Sorry for going on a rant! I'm just tired of people trying to force it on me I think.

Estella: Very pretty name. Better than Estrella. The meaning is obviously beautiful. I’m not sure if I prefer this or Estelle, though.
Elise: It’s nice enough though I find it a bit overrated. Elize or Eliza is also really cool.
Elena: Pretty. Not much to say. Love Helena though.
Elizabeth: I mostly like this name because it has a lot of nickname options. That’s a plus. But it’s a fairly beautiful name that looks interesting with the cool ‘z’ in it, regal, historical, and has stood the test of time. Common, but it’s solid.
Evelyn: Meh. I prefer Eve. Lyn / Lynn is cool though.
Ernestine: I really want to like this name, really, I do. But whenever I say it I get this weird rubbery sour feeling in my mouth. I kinda dig it because of the meaning (Similar to Emily). It makes a good middle though.
Enid: I honestly don’t know what to say about this name. I can rock with Etta though.
Edwina: No thanks.
