Help!
I have a friend named Minette. Does anyone have any info on the origin and meaning of the name???

It is the French for (female) pussy cat!
In "The Little White Horse" Minette is used as a nickname for Maria, for a very petite character.
Related to that theory, I have a French friend named Marinette, a variation of Marie. Minette could easily be a shortened from of Marinette.
I think it would be a Latin-French name meaning "little love". Someone petite and alluring would probably be named this.
Minette sounds French
Minette could be a form of Mina (a short form of Wilhelmina) or Minna ("love"). Minette would then mean "little Mina/Minna".
Compare the French Annette from Anne and Ninette from Nina.
