Minette sounds FrenchMinette could be a form of Mina (a short form of Wilhelmina) or Minna ("love"). Minette would then mean "little Mina/Minna".Compare the French Annette from Anne and Ninette from Nina."But it’s all right now.

I'm not sure about the origin/meaning but Henrietta Anne, daughter of Charles I was called Minette though I haven't been able to find out why she was called that.Maybe that will help.

In "The Little White Horse" Minette is used as a nickname for Maria, for a very petite character.

Related to that theory, I have a French friend named Marinette, a variation of Marie. Minette could easily be a shortened from of Marinette.

I think it would be a Latin-French name meaning "little love". Someone petite and alluring would probably be named this.
