I am aware that it is a unisex name. However, I prefer it on a girl. But it is a unisex name so it can be used for a boy without people thinking it strange. It is just my personal preference it to be used on a girl.

It's a decent name but I'd never use it, how about Shannon Christopher, Shannon Kyle or Shannon Gregory?

I like Shannon a lot for a boy. I've actually met three guys named Shannon before. I'm not sure what middle names I like with it.

As a female Shannon, I have to say that I wouldn't use it for either sex at this point. It is very dated, if you ask me. DH likes it for a boy, especially as a middle name, but I've never been able to bring myself to like it as a fn or mn. Some of the combos he liked were:
