Help[Opinions] Mae.
Thanks to Array and Mashka, I've suddenly found that I really like Mae. It's a family name as well. I'm not sure about a middle name, though I'm kinda of liking Mae Cecilia. Opinions?

These type of messages really, really bother me.
You give one statement, you don't explain why you dislike the name or comment on anything, so why even reply? It does no good! I dislike the majority of the names you post, but unless I have a solid, intelligent reason why I don't post a response, or if I do I state that your names are really boring or overused.

I can't think of Mae in any way other than a nickname, and for some reason it really, really irks me when it's used as a full name. It also looks really awkward to me, with the a in front of the e, although May is too wordy. I also think it's not substantial enough, and way too cute. And slightly hickish. The fact that everyone on this board seems to think it's the cat's pajamas awakens rebellious instincts in me and makes me actually HATE it.

I just suggested Margaret to my boyfriend
It's a long-standing favorite, and I think it would be really cute. I had always planned on having a Katherine nn Kay, but since his sister has the name (and she's a spoiled brat), it was quickly knocked off the table. Margaret Cecilia, nn Mae, is really cute and spunky.

I'm getting tired of Cecilia. Offhand I can think of three families that welcomed new Cecilias in the last couple of years, and since I barely know people who are at a point in life to procreate and don't go out of my way to associate with babies, that's kind of a lot. Cecilia's everywhere on the board, too, which probably accounts for how overdone I'm starting to find it. It reminds me of Isabel: maybe it was pretty at one point, but then seeing it in combos started to get that distinct dead horse feeling.
Mae is nice, one of those names that I like to see other people use but it's not going to make my own favorites list. It's worth mentioning that I love Mame, though; funny what a difference a letter can make.
ETA: I have a young cousin named Cecilia Maeve. No wonder it sounded like the name of someone I knew. :-)

I highly dislike Cecilia to be honest, but it's one of the few names that much be used. :-(

Yep, lots of Cecilias. I know a family with a Clayton, Abigail, Cecilia, Grace, and Magdalene--all nice enough names, IMO, but a couple of popularity red lights that are everywhere suddenly (Abigail and Grace; at least they feel like they're everywhere) makes Cecilia feel like it's being given to dozens of fetuses as we speak.

I've noticed it in a few places as well.
Someone I know recently had a Zoe Cecilia, her first was Grace Katherine. Hmm. Made I can talk him into Celia then.

I also love this name. Firstly I wanted it as a mn and was set on calling a future DD Ruby Mae, but now I love it for a fn too! Cecilia is nms, I really dislike it actually. Here are some other ideas:

Hmmm, I don't see Judith sticking out at all. On the contrary, Judith Helen and Mae Cecilia are wonderful together. They really have a 1930s vibe going on. I approve, of course. :)
Likewise, Raphael Christian and Leo Allan go together very well. I'm just not sure that the boy names go with the girl names. Raphael and Leo sound very much like Renaissance names (not necessarily talking about the period, just of taking older, off-beat names that are quirky by association and making them usable again) and Judith and Mae sound very flapper-ish.
The more I look at them, though, the more they begin to meld together. On the up side, none of the combos stick out like a sore thumb. Individually, all four combos are very nice, too.

I like it, and I do prefer the spelling Mae to May, so yay for that. Cecelia is on my PNL, so I approve of Mae Cecilia. I think it's a really lovely combo.

I love this name, spelled May, Mae, and Mei. (My favorite spelling is May.)

I love it. I too didn't realize how great it was until pretty recently... maybe about two months ago. Anyway, I love this spelling especially, and if I were to use it, she'd be Maeby. :) Mae Cecilia is lovely - snappy Mae with grand Cecilia. My favorite combos are Mae Aloisia and Mae Brigitta, if those interest you.

I like Mae and May too. My great grandmother's name is Lorna May. Mae Cecelia is nice though I prefer Cecelia Mae.

Mae Cecilia is great! I also think Mae Celia is darling. Mae and Cecilia are the name-universe's Odd Couple, but for some reason, they work together.
