I'm personally glad to see all the short and sweet names; only Julia and Julian are over 2 syllables. I'm glad Sarah is out, because having Saar, Sara AND Sarah in the top 20 was complete overkill imho.
Complete list are ALL names used the Netherlands in 2013 and the number of times they've been used.

I've always been curious about Sem. I don't know any other modern languages where a cognate of Shem is still in use, let alone popular. Overall, I like this list a lot more than most top 20s. It's a good mix of short, adorable, distinctly Dutch names; popular pan-European choices; and surprising borrowings from English. Where are Thomas, Fenna, Lynn and Jayden all so popular at the same time? Lol.

Overall, pretty nice (with the notable exception of Jayden). I'm not really big on chopping off the final syllable of names, though. Saar is just ugly.My favorites:
Milan
Lucas
Thomas
Noah
Liam
Julia ;)
Emma
Mila
Eva
Anna

I know a few people called Daan, Bram, Lucas/Luuk, Tim, Thijs, Thomas, Ruben and Lars, 1 boy with Milan as his middle name and 1 boy with Noah as his middle name.I know a few people called Julia, Emma, Lisa, Fenna, Sara, Lotte, Eva, Anna, Evi and Lieke. So all in all this doesn't really come as a surprise to me. I like some names (Levi, Milan, Bram, Finn, Thomas, Liam, Sam, Mila, Eva, Lynn and Lieke), but most of them are just meh.

Lucas
Lars - I've always been fond of this though it seems to have "old dumb joke"/low-class associations for a lot of people hereTess

I like the short names too. Although Julia and Julian are some of my favorites!Interesting that Lisa and Sara etc are so popular - to me, anyway, because in the US Lisa and Sarah are some of those names that got overused a few decades ago. Are they mostly recently popular, or is it steady? I thought hm, why's Fenna not in the db. Or Saar or Evi. Fenna is nice!
