[Opinions] Sybil and Sibyl
I find the name to be rather charming. Do you like it? Do you see chances for a comeback?Sibyl is the original. Is it your favorite spelling? Or do you prefer Sybil?I feel like most people would spell it Sybil, do you think so as well?

I think it's both sleek and frumpy sounding in a way that's kind of unique. I do like saying it (so like it for other people), but I'm not sure I'd want to be called it.Stylewise, I'd group it with Sylvia, Cecile, Tabitha, Lenore, Beatrice.Yeah, I can see it being popular again.I don't know how most people would spell it, but Sibyl is what looks most natural/intuitive/pleasant to me.

My all time favorite name, or maybe it’s tied with Amara...Love, love, love. I personally prefer Sybil but I like Sibyl too, I go back and forth a little bit but definitely favor Sybil.

I love the name Sybil / Sibyl!I prefer it spelled Sybil, but Sibyl works too. I would personally like it to make a comeback, along with other names that seem to have gone out of fashion. (Such as Margaret, Marjorie, Bessie / Bess, Hester, Ingrid, Kathleen, and Barbara, etc.) If any of these names made a comeback, it'd be like a breath of fresh air among all the modern/currently trendy names such as Neveah, Nova, Harper, Jayden, Asher, Levi, Emma, Grace, Oliver, etc. (Not that I have anything against those names, it's just that I've hear of/met a lot of them... 2 Neveahs, 3 Novas, 7 Harpers, 4 Jaydens, 9 Ashers, 10 Levis, 11 Emmas, 7 Graces, and 4 Olivers. That's how many of them I've actually met.)

I like it. Well, I like how it looks and what it means. The sound is less appealing. I think I prefer Sibyl. It's a strong contender for a hypothetical feline sister to my dog Prudence. Heh heh heh Sibyl Josephine is the perfect little Sibyl combo - conservative, though.

I like it and I think it could make a comeback. I far prefer Sibyl, and I think it's the more intuitive spelling.

I'll place my bets that in 20 years time Sybil, Edith, Helen and the like will be popular again. I think I prefer the Sybil spelling as it is the one I am more familiar with

I think it's a very lovely name regardless of the spelling. I prefer Sybil because it looks nicer in my opinion, and Sibyl reminds me of the word "sibling". That's not a particularly bad thing, but it does cause me to lean towards the other spelling for whatever reason.

I love and would spell it Sibyl, that feels more natural to me.

I prefer Sibyl; anyone wanting to use Bill, Billy etc as nns might choose to use Sybil, but it wouldn't bother me. I like the name, and would be happy to meet one of any age, but especially a young one.

I don't have a preference, I like both of them! I think that it has a chance to make a comeback, not anytime soon though. I think most people would spell it as Sybil, it's the more common spelling; you wouldn't spell Emily as Emmaleigh, would you?

I love Sibyl, though I prefer Sibylla. Sybil really doesn't compute for me because I studied Ancient Greek in college, and "Sybil" totally warps the original Greek. I'm sure this won't be an issue for most people, though!

This was one of my favourite names for ages! I really liked it. It's funny though, after Downton Abbey's Sibyl, I liked it less, even though she was a great character. That show made me appreciate Edith and dampened my crush on Sibyl. Maybe Sibyl is one of those names that I like the look of, but the sound isn't as nice. I prefer Sybil, that "Syb" seems witchy and I like the idea of occasionally calling a Sybil "Billie" or "Bill". I do naturally write Sybil, Sibyl takes effort.

I haven't watched the show. But I was kind of wondering the same thing. It looks really nice and means "prophetess" so it has something really mystical about it. But it doesn't sound as nice as it looks. I still like it. Billie is cute as a nn. I used to like Edith but not so much anymore.

Maybe Sibyl is a dope middle name.
Edith Sibyl. Heh! Like her.
