[Opinions] Isis
Thoughts on the name Isis? Without it’s obvious association aside looking at it objectively. What would you pair it with?I ask because I was looking at the baby name charts for France and I noticed that Isis is on the charts now. I was surprised. It’s revival came in 2019 when 132 girls were named it, and in 2020 148 baby girls named Isis. I believe they pronounce it as IE-seez in France. Do you think it will fall out?

I think ISIS is used for the group most often in the US, with Daesh and ISIL being more common names internationally? But ISIL is also used sometimes instead in the US, and the terrorist group hasn't been in the news as much in recent years.I think Isis might stick around a bit in Europe, at least where it's already charted like in France and Portugal. It seems like Isidora, Clea, Cleo, Iris, June, Freya, Aida to me. My main association is cows tbc...in the best way though...holy cows, airy like Arielle.

I've always liked Isis, and I was thinking about using it as either a middle name for Annabel or for a future cat until the terrorists 'ruined' it. Isis is a simple yet pretty and unique name, and its Ancient Egyptian history is fascinating, so I really hope it does make a comeback someday sooner rather than later. As a first name, I prefer more classic and/or longer middle names for it such as these: Isis Alexandra
Isis Annabella
Isis Anastasia
Isis Theodora
Isis Eleanora
Isis Rosemarie

It's confusingly close to Iris, which I greatly prefer. But, it's better than Osiris.

I am really coming around to Isis. For a long time I thought it was a cartoonishly faux-exotic stripper name. It was just so loudly obvious. Now it gives me strong 80s Kemetic energy, in a fun way. It's a very unforgiving name, but now I admire its shiny plastic rigidity. I might pair it with a name that starts with a vowel.Isis Amaranth
Isis Adele
Isis Olivia
Isis Yvonne
Isis Amandine
Isis Eudora

Isis is gorgeous! Mystical but not unapproachable. If you think the association with terrorism is too potent, maybe consider the variant Iset.Isia Paloma

I think it's like a gaudier version of Iris, but still attractive in its opaline sparkliness. Middle names:Isis Aisha
Isis Artemisia
Isis Basira
Isis Briseida
Isis Callisto
Isis Cassiopeia
Isis Christabel
Isis Christiana
Isis Christobel
Isis Cressida
Isis Desiderata
Isis Drusilla
Isis Elisabeth

Isis Terpsichore
Isis TheodosiaI'd name siblings Aida and Maximilian.I do think it will fall out - the terrorist organisation is a very unfortunate namesake. I think the French pronunciation is EE-SEES, which I think is less nice than EYE-sis.

Thanks for the input and combos. Isis Artemisia, Isis Christobel, and Isis Theodosia are beautiful. Isis Theodosia practically shimmers and shines.

people will associate it with the terrorists, ISIS. Especially in france, where Islamic terrorism has been quite an issue. In any case, I don't really like names of deities.

I know. Which is exactly why I was surprised when I saw that. Didn't ISIL attack Paris in 2015?

Maybe those girls named Isis have Islamist parents? Idk.
