Re: Top 225 Girls' Names on my 2022 spellings combined list, USA
It's a pity that there are no statistics for nicknames. I'm convinced that the name Ellie is (in practice) a lot more popular than the statistics of Ellie as a full name suggest, considering the amount of El- names on this list.Other examples of names that might be used as short forms of other popular names:
Ava - Avery
Mia - Amelia, Emilia
Lily - Lillian, Liliana
Nora - Eleanor
Mila 6672 - Camilla, Emilia
Ella 6397 - Isabella, Eleanor, Elizabeth etc.
Ellie 6158 - Eliana, Eleanor, Elizabeth, etc.
Charlie 5097 - Charlotte
Lucy 4637
Sophie 3724 - Sophia
Sadie 3377 - Sarah (unsure of how many people use this nickname nowadays)
Eliza 3042 - Elizabeth (same as above)
Bella 2928 - Isabella
Lainey 2574 - Delaney
Josie 2571 - Josephine, Jocelyn
Brielle 2433 - Gabrielle
Millie 2387 - Amelia, Mila, Emilia
Wrenley 2257
Margot 2225 - Margaret
Kali 2148
Callie 2053 - Caroline
Maisie 1996 - Margaret
Lena 1946 - Selena
Wren 1762 - Wrenley
Elsie 1715 - Elizabeth
June 1792 - Juniper
Amy 1690 - Amelia
Molly 1689 - MaryNot to mention short forms that don't appear on the list as legal names, but which must be ubiquitous:- Emmy

And many of those named with one of the various spellings of Elena, Alaina etc. will be called Lainey, too.
