I first think of
Irwin Rommel, the "Desert
Fox." But he hated Hitler and so many on both sides hold him in esteem as a military tactician, that it isn't necessarily a bad association in my mind. More of a neutral one. And I try very hard not to let one person overshadow a whole name, so I'm still able to keep an open mind with
Irwin. (Also, I have a vague childhood memory of
Irwin being a toy company. I think they made "slinkies.")
I don't see
Irwin as a surname, so I won't suggest alternatives. But I love making combos:
Irwin ThomasIrwin TimothyIrwin ThaddeusIrwin DavidIrwin PeterIrwin TobiasIrwin PhilipIrwin Cecil ("SESS-l")
Irwin LinusIrwin Nathaniel (Oh no! I just broke the "never-begin-the-mn-with-the-same-letter-that ends-the-fn" rule. Whatever will I do? Oh, no!)
