[Opinions] Shoshannah?
This name has been on my mind lately and is seriously threatening Susannah. WDYT of it? Also do you like Shoshannah or Susannah better? Also my brother just told me he liked the name Shenandoah. Now that I think of it, I think I like it as well. WDYT?

I know this is a late response, but...I didn't see this thread till now.I love the name Shoshannah. It's one of my favorite Jewish names. It sounds pretty to me, and I don't mind the two "sh" parts. My favorite combo is Shoshannah Miriam. I love the NN Shanna.------------------------------------------
Time to unload the gigantic lists of names running rampant in my head...

Thank you!Shoshannah Miriam (I love Miriam) is very pretty, but if I decide to use Shoshannah instead of Susannah, then the combo would be Shoshannah Adelaide Corinne. Thanks again for responding! :-)

I LOVE Shoshana, but only this spelling. It seems the most simple and sweet to me. I much prefer it to Susannah. Shenandoah is not exactly my style.

Cool! It's nice to know someone else likes the name (although I only like the spelling Shoshannah). Thanks for responding!

Shoshannah sounds old, to me.I've met a few, and the one I knew best was in my class, so I don't know why it sounds old. Anyway, it is kind of elegant, but nrms. And it reminds me of a song, and it doesn't help the image. I love Susannah, though.

I don't like Suannah at all, but I'd pick it over Shoshannah.I really don't like Shenandoah. It's a county in Virginia, a University, a National Park, and probably other things. So I wouldn't use it on a child. A pet, maybe.~~~

I do knwo that it is, but I still rather like the name, but I would probably only use it as a mn if that (because I want to use Susannah or Shoshannah).

I prefer Susannah. Shoshannah is a bit hard to say, and also reminds me of the word Shawshank. :bShenandoah seems a bit silly as a name to me. Brings to mind Cheyenne and Dakota, and the like. :-/

I like Shoshannah, how are you saying it? My sister loves this name spelled Shoshanna, and says it the way you would pronounce it in Japanese; at least that's what she says. She says it (show-shawn-nah). Personally I think it's cute no matter what pronunciation I can think of. (show-shain-nah) and (show-shan-nah) are the only other pronunications I can think of. Susannah is also cute but I like Shoshannah more. Shenandoah is a cute boy name.

It's pronounced shoh (no W)- SHAH-nah in Hebrew.

What do you mean no w sound? Shoh and show would make the same sound gramatically, unless you mean to say it is pronounced (shoo-SHAN-nah), shoo as in the sound you make to get someone to leave.---------------------------------------------------------------------My Favorite Names:Girls: Sabriel, Serafina, Augustine, Katriana, Arianna, Adelina, Audriana, Catriona, Josceline, Avianna, Mariana, Artemis, Taianna, Genevieve, and Keira.Boys: Keiran, Quinn, Silas, Gavin, Aidan, Vincent, Cedric, Rowan, Mica, Xavier, Ian, Finley, Damian, Laika, and Kaidan.

I'm not a fan of any of those. The double sh- seems hard for me to say, and Susannah makes me think of the song that I also don't like.
Shenandoah is alright, but I'll always think of the park first.*laurel*

Curious - what is the song? Is it "Oh, Susannah!" or something else? Thanks for responding!

It's okay. Shoshana is much nicer IMO. I do much prefer Susannah to both.Shenandoah? Please don't.

Well, I like Shoshannah better, so I would go with that spelling (I like the Hannah at the end).Don't worry, if I ever used Shoshannah or Susannah I wouldn't use Shenandoah! Althought there could be a small chance of using it as a mn, but that would be it.Thanks for the comments!

I prefer Susannah to Shoshannah very much. Shoshannah seems to have too many letters and reminds me of "shaman" which is not necessarily a bad association. Just an unusual one. The shosho sound bothers me.I like Shenandoah as a mn. It has a nice historical significance (the Shenandoah Valley...) a BEAUTIFUL song... anyway, I like it as a mn. I knew a dog named Sapphire Shenandoah. Britney Tamber

Yeah, I though the Shosha part looked a little weird too, but I still like it.I thought about Shenandoah as a mn; obviously I couldn't have a Shenandoah with a Susannah/Shoshannah! I agree that is a beautiful song - I love it.Thanks for the comments!

You could get away with Susannah as a fn for one kid and Shenandoah as a mn for another kid. :)Britney Tamber

I this it's kind of strange and I would not associate it with Susannah at all, even though it is the hewbrew form. They was it's pronounced just wouldn't remind me of it very much. I like Susannah better but prefer the spelling Suzanna, but Susannah is staring to grow on me.I think it weird but through that I actually like it.

It is rather unusual, but I thought since I like both, maybe Shoshannah was better in that she probably wouldn't meet another person with that name. But I still love Susannah. Thanks for responding!
