Angel for a girl
I always used to think Angel was tacky on a girl. Now, I think it's very pretty, I like angels a lot. I also realized there's no difference when it's used on boys or girls it's the same name. I prefer it on a boy still, but I don't think it's so bad on girl anymore.Any FN suggestions? I'd most likely use as a middle name or nickname.

Our daughter is Evangeline but I call her Angel & Eva on occassion. (Side note: my husband calls her Cookie, which shows you how nicknames often have no relevance to the given names). I think it's very sweet as a nickname, but then again, I tend to call my other two Honey & Sweetheart a lot (out of affection).

better than Angel for a boy IMO... However, I prefer, Angela, Angelina, Angeline and Angelica... not necessarily in that order... or for a boy, Angelo or Angelino... causes less confusion.

Angel..I think I'd prefer Angela, Angeline,Angelina.
Just "Angel" might not work so well in the real world.

I don't like it on either gender but...I like it better on a boy. I think it's kind of trashy on a girl. Sorry

I, too, love angels -- however, I consider the name virtually irremediably tacky. What about something less blatant? Celestine comes to mind.

oh that could grow on me, I like Celestial too.

I like Angel, but only on a boy, since the only Angel I know is a boy ( and because the noun angel is masculine in Croatian). And I'd only use it as a middle name. For a girl I prefer Angela or Angelina.Angel Patricia -for some reason I love this combo, even though I'd never use it
Simone Angel
Judith Angel
Emilia Angel
Ines Angel
Isla Angel
Fiona Angel
Dido Angel
Blair Angel
Primrose Angel
Hope Angel
Dolores Angel
Odette Angel

I don't mind it.It's not my particular favorite or anything but I don't mind it. I have pretty benign associations with it and, although it's not my thing, I can see how people might appreciate the sentiment. Some of its related names are GPs of mine: Angela, Angeline, Mariangela, Angelee, etc.

I kind of like Angelina, but then it reminds me too much of Angelina Jolie whom I'm not fond of. I also like Angeline, but that's my niece's MN. I dislike Angela due to someone I know. Thanks for the suggestions though.

I think it's tacky. When you think of angels you always imagine such perfect creatures, beautiful and sweet with blond curly hair and big blue eyes. I mean yes, there were bad angels but people don't think of them, they think of those heavenly creatures that are pictured on postcards and all kinds of stuff, especially during the Christmas season.Maybe your daughter won't live up to that image (no offense but this could happen to anyone) and she'll be a tomboy or more of a rough or wild little girl, maybe she won't be pretty or she'll be overweight, I mean it could happen. And then she'd be stuck with that name and it would seem ridiculous on her. People would probably make fun of her. I wouldn't recommend Angel, along with similar names such as Charisma (I actually know a girl named Angel Charisma). It's also a pet name, I know several guys who name their girlfriends angel, which could be weird for her.Angel does have a pretty and soft sound and I would definitely consider it if it weren't a word that means, well... what it means. I would suggest you look at similar names such as Angeline. They don't carry that heavy image.

Thanks for the suggestion but it's my niece's MN. I don't expect her to live up to her name anyways :) it's impossible, but that goes for any name really :o).Angel Charisma is pretty actually but NMS.

To me it is a little tacky, its just not my style... But I reckon it could be okay as a nickname for Angelica/Angelina/Angela/other similar names.
