Leslie
This is a name I've hated for quite a while, but now I'm warming up to it since I discovered Leslie Caron, whose movies I've taken a liking to. I only like it for a girl. I don't think I'll be using it, though.I know it's quite dated in the English-speaking world, but WDYT? What would you pair it with? (Ms. Caron's full name is Leslie Claire Margaret.)

I don't mind it for a middle name, but that because in my family as well as my boyfriend's family it honours a few people.

I don't completely loathe it, but I've never cared for it. You're right about it sounding dated, and it does sound better as a feminine name. Leslie Taylor
Leslie Willow
Leslie Bridget
Leslie Norah
Leslie RowanI think Leslie sounds best when paired with a fairly modern (by that I mean it still gets used today) name that begins with a consonant. Btw, it kind of bugs me when people complain about it reminding them of the word "lesbian". I never even made the connection until a friend of mine once pointed it out to me, and I don't see why it's even a problem anyway.

I have nothing against lesbians, it's just that I don't want to automatically think of lesbians when I hear a name. It's the same as with Hannah, which always makes me think of chicken soup. There's nothing objectionable about chicken soup, I just don't want to automatically think of it when I hear a name. As far as the Hannah/chicken soup connection, it's a mystery and I don't know why I make that association, but the Leslie/lesbian connection should be very obvious, I would think. The first syllables of the the name and the word are identical---at least, they are the way that most Americans pronounce Leslie.

I agree with you! My niece has this name and some called her leso at school.

It's okay. I mainly don't like it because so many people pronounce it Lezlee, which I can't stand. Same thing with Presley, people are always pronouncing it Prezlee. Ugh.Anyway, middle names... keep it fairly simple.Leslie Amber

Leslie YvonneIt's somewhat dated but not really that much. The youngest Leslie I know of is probably fourteen or fifteen by now.

How else do you pronounce Leslie and Presley?

I'm guessing with a soft S sound, Less-lie rather than Lez-lie and Press-ley rather than Prez-ley.

This would have to be one of my most hated name. It's unisex, dated, dull the sound doesn't appeal to me. I know of two Lesley Ann and Lesleigh Marie and I once worked with a Leslie. I also thonk of lesbians when I think of this name.Leslie Anneliese
