There are a lot of great names that have their roots in Greek mythology. Some names of Greek myth are still commonly used like Artemis, Athena, Jason,Iris, etc. But I would definitely want to know the myth surrounding the name before I used one. For instance, Jocasta unwittingly married her son Oedipus. She commits suicide when she learns that he was her son. Some other names from Greek myth:
Girls:
Hera
Circe
Medea
Demeter
Thalia
Euphrosyne
Callypso
Nike
Electra
Clio
Calliope
Helen
Dione
Hecate
Ligea
Pallas
Persephone
Asteria
Theia
AriadneBoys:
Theseus
Hector
Marsyas - he was flayed...
Thespias
Chiron
Castor
Arcas
Xanthus

Many Greek mythology names are still very much in use in Greece, especially ones like Athena.
A cousin of mine actually recently named her daughter Nefeli (variant transcription of Nephele), and I think it's definitely due for a comeback. Ismene is a bit of an old lady name, but it's pretty. Larisa is a city, but it's pretty as well. I love Eudora and actually know one. I don't like Selene or Rhea much though.
For boys, Thanatos is a no, because it is the same as the Greek word for death. Odysseus, Achilles, and Perseus are still fairly commonly used. Icarus and Leandros are nice and due for a comeback.

Ooh, I love Greek Mythology names! Great to see this post. IMO Briseis, Larisa, Phaedra (or Phaedra) and Selene are perfectly useable nowadays. Personally love Briseis and Selene, they would make great middle names! Anna Briseis has been on my mind lately...I've been fascinated by Achilles for some time. I actually have met a little Achilles and found it very appealing
From the other boys names you mentioned I think Evander and Leandros - or Leander could work. Here are some of my personal favourites: Anthea, Andromeda, Calypso, Cassander, Danae, Echo, Helios, Jason, Linus, Medea and Zephyr.
