New sister set... Sigh
Some people I know just had their second baby. Their first daughter's name is Ava.Their second daughter... Eve.Wdyt? I mean, I assumed it was fairly obvious that Ava and Eve were variants of the same name but maybe it's not.

It's so repetitive......Ava and something like Evelyn or Evangeline would have been better.

Urgh. That's horrid. At least they're both decent names separately?

Oh man, they're really stuck on one name. Seems a shame when there are so many names out there.

Both names are pretty but, yeah, as a sibset? Not a great idea. I do wonder if it was done purposely...maybe they really wanted to honor an Ava/Eve/etc and Ava just wasn't enough. Reminds me...I know sisters named Elizabeth and Lisa.

They aren't, but they still sound too much alike. And I don't care for Ava, in Swedish it's short for akutvårdsavdelning (emergency unit).I've seen Martin and Martina for siblings and also Daniel and Daniella.

Good names but yeah, I wouldn't put them together in the same siblingset. Just way too matchy IMO

Even if it's not obvious for non-namenerds, it should be obvious that the two of them are very much alike and thus shouldn't me used for sisters.Stupid people.

Love Eve but with a sister Ava UGH. I hate when people do something stupid like that.

Honestly, they may have done it on purpose. I know a sibset of Elizabeth Mary and Isabel Marie. I couldn't hold back saying, "Don't you know they're essentially the same name?" And the parents were like, "Well, of course! We wanted them to match. We think it's cute."So, it doesn't bother regular people the way it bothers namenerds. My cousin is Megan Margaret (shudder) and my mom, Catherine, has a sister named Karen. It bothers me so much, but no one else seems to care.

Ava and Eve and Pinch Me Tight,
Went down to the river to have a fight.
Ava and Eve fell overboard,
Now who was left to fight? They probably thought Ava and Eva were too matchy matchy.

I normally don't care too much about the name-from-the-same origin thing, but this one's really bad. There are two reasons:A) It's so cutesy, with just three letters and a vowel change. The parents probably thought they were so clever too ughB) As similar as Ava and Eve are physically, I find them to be completely different styles. Choosing Ava goes for one thing, choosing Eve goes for another. You can't have your cake and eat it too!Overall they just clash really poorly. Boo.

Aw, boo. When I see stuff like that, whether they knew they were essentially the same name or not, I always think it's such a missed opportunity at branching out!And in this case the names look and sound so similar too, I'm sure it will get confusing. I have a friend with 4 daughters and 2 are Charlotte and Caroline. They at least aren't as obviously variants of the same, but still, I was like nnnggg.

They are too close for comfort, in my opinion. At least they didn't go with Eva, I guess? They could have gone with Evelyn or Eveline or something to make them different.

Hi !!!I think that they are too similar...
And I dislike both names. But congratulation to their parents!!!!
A newborn is always a good news!Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Wow! I'd think it would be obvious to just about anybody that Ava and Eve are related so I'm literally SMH over here. Then again, I've seen Liam / William, Mary / Marie, and Lisa / Beth in the same child's name. Maybe some parents are completely clueless re: names.ETA that Eve can be called Evie so at least Ava and Evie don't sound identical.

On first inspection the names are similar enough to fit together as siblings but they're not as similar as say, Olivia and Olive! The pattern is that both names start and end with the same letter, have v in the centre and are three letters long...HOWEVEROne is two syllables long and the other is one. One has a predominant AY sound and the other has EE. Ava doesn't really lend itself to be nicknmamed whereas I know some Eves who prefer to go by Evie or get their name shorted to E.In real life I think they work and it doesn't jump out at me for being tacky or ridiculous.

I actually think both names are beautiful, just not for sisters, for obvious reasons to us.
