Caroline/Carolyn
I've really been liking them lately. They have, in my IMO, an old southern charm to them, and the nn Carrie can be used for both of these names. Which name do you prefer and WDYT of these names?

And nobody else can make me sing along
Nobody else can make me feel

I prefer Caroline. I don't mind Carolyn, but it doesn't sound as pretty and classic as Caroline. It also sounds too much like carolin' (like the word 'caroling' without the 'G'). I hate it when people pronounce Caroline the same way as Carolyn. If you use Caroline, your daughter might be called Carolyn by mistake, but I don't think that it would happen all that often.BTW Carrie is a cute nickname.

Only sometimes my daughter has been called Carolyn, but it hasn't been a proble. Although, a funny story was when I was in labor, we had told the nurse we were having a girl named Caroline and when I was pushing she was saying, "come on, Carolyn!" In the back of my head I was thinking "It's CaroLINE!" but I just didn't have the strength to correct her at the time!

I love CarolynI think they are both classic names.I prefer Carolyn b/c it sounds softer and more like the original French pronunciation.- She said he made a racial slur!
- Racial? She is Swedish!
- Maybe he called her Meatball."I’ve given it a lot of thought, and I’ve decided to be spontaneous."

I only like CarolineCarolyn is trashy to me, I don't know why. In a name book I read, it said Caroline was classy and elegant and regal, and that Carolyn took the name down town. I like the nn Cara though.

I read that book too! I think it was "Beyond Jennifer & Jason, Madison and Montana".

My daughter is Caroline, and I much prefer this spelling and pronunciation to Carolyn. Carolyn is okay, but I don't like Carolina, Carol or Carrie. I've never heard of anyone in the US called Caro, but it's an interesting nn.

I prefer the Caroline spelling, but the Carolyn pronounciation. I love the NN Carrie, and actually, I prefer it on its own...one of my personal faves :)

Carolyn seems a bit dated to the 50s and 60s to me, while Caroline seems more old-fashioned and classic. But Caroline has gotten rather popular lately. And I dislike nn Carrie. :-/

I prefer Caroline. I don't care for names with the "lyn" ending.

I love Caroline (and Carolina). Carolyn isn't as attractive to me because I prefer original spellings. Also, Carolyn seems a bit dated to me while Caroline is timeless (picky, I know). Carrie's nice but my favorite nicks for Caroline are Cara and Caro.

I LOVE Caroline, and Carolyn is okay too.I'm not fond of the NN Carrie, though. I prefer Caro or no nickname.

I prefer Caroline (obvious bias) prn either Care-o-line or Car-o-leen. I think Carolyn kind of feeds the fire of the whole Gracelyn Jesslyn, add - lyn to any name thing.
I also agree with what others said about Carolina, also very pretty. Carrie is cute, but I have never gone by a nn.

I don't like this name at all. I can handle Carolina (Care-uh-leena) though, and I like the nn Carrie also.Kristen~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
