In late 1921, Io broke up with Jacob. She caught him cheating with a seamstress from a different port.
In early 1922, Smithy asked permission to court Io. Everybody agreed that it would be a wonderful match. They were married in the spring of 1924.
It was a beautiful wedding on the lawn of the Dupont house and everybody, including Kaye and Ethheline, attended. They're expecting their first child this summer.
Unfortunately for Abe, that same season, Ethel announced that her parents had arranged a marrige for her to a sailor in the next town over. It would be enough to support the family and, although she was quite smitten with Abe, she couldn't stay. She left three weeks after Io and Smithy's wedding.
Leo, against the wishes of everybody in the family, has fallen in love with a girl named Alice Washbourn. She's 16 and has a one year old tot named Gabe. She lives in a ratty boarding house near the Dupont home.
