I like it. I'm trying to phrase this in an inoffensive way, but sorry if I offend anyone. I think over here it is more common for black people to use, and I think it would be unusual to see it on a caucasian child.

Where do you live?I can't make the connection between Levi and black people.

It's the name of my nephew.I don't really like it - it's more of a title to me than a name. We've had Jewish posters on here who are offended by it before.Other then that it's fine. Cute & modern. Nephew is Levi James.

We've had Jewish posters on here who are offended by it before.Did they explain why it was offensive to them? I'd really like to know because I thought it was just like any other biblical name and I like it.

Tried to find a postBut couldn't.Levi is a title, and one that is held in esteem. Here's an Wiki article on Levites - for more information you might want to ask on the Facts board where people know what they're talking about. My knowledge is limited. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LevitesInteresting, though - I found this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Levi - the information that it gives about Levi not being a name and instead being a caste for priests is the main reason that it's thought of as inappropriate. Levi is a pretty hefty title, I think.

I love it. The only think I don't find great is that I appreciate names with nick name potential. But it wouldn't keep me from uding the name. It's great!

I know one Levi. Nice kid. He likes that he can wear Levi t-shirts and have his name across his chest. :o)I've always liked the name. For some reason I want a B- name to follow it.

Ehh...I don't like it. It's getting kind of trendy now, especially since Matthew McConaughey used it on his son. Plus it's too Biblical for me to want to use.

I enjoy the name since my only encounter with a Levi was very pleasant. My last name prevents me from considering the name, unfortunately. I also must say that a "ninja" from Ninja Warrior is Levi Meeuwrnberg.

I really like it too and have seen a few babies with this name as of late. DH and I know a couple who had a son about 1 week (I think!) after our DS was born and his name is Levi Adam. Adam is for the mum's maiden name. I know that they have a friend who also has a son with the name Levi.

I like it but I've never been totally sold on it for some reason. Also, it seems like it's getting a little popular. I wouldn't be surprised if it cracks the top 10 sometime within the next 5-10 years.
