Annabelle with siblings
Do you find Annabel / Annabelle overly frilly? I have swung from one side to the other on this name over the years, and for some reason yesterday it popped into my head as a non-frilly but instead sophisticated and upbeat name that I would actually consider using if I ever had another girl. (Which I will not, and also there are like 4 other names I'd easily use for a girl, but that's beside the point!)Anyway. That, and also how do you like it with my other kids' names: Benjamin, Margaret, Alexander, and Annabelle. I think that spelling looks more complete with the rest. I like it.I'd call her Anne or Nan.WHAT IF she came with a twin sister? That would be fun. What would you name her? Annabelle and ____.

I love Annabel and Annabelle, slightly preferring the former. I think both fit with your kids' names. If I had a daughter named Annabelle, I'd call her Annie. If she had a twin, I'd call them Annabelle and Lysandra.

I don't really like Belle names, so I'd prefer Annabel. Annabelle, with your other kids is fine. Do call her Nan! I like that. Her twin sister can be Suzanne. Annabelle and Suzanne.

I think Annabelle is lovely and don't find it overly frilly no. I definitely fits in with your other kids names and as for a twin sister's name, I like the sound of Annabelle and Katherine, Annabelle and Matilda, Annabelle and Josephine, Annabelle and Tabitha, Annabelle and Elizabeth, Annabelle and Rosemary and Annabelle and Emmeline. I'd call Annie for short.

It's a little frilly but not too much. I think it is sophisticated, although I prefer Annabel. The Annabels I have known have all been the opposite of frilly in real life!It does go with your other children's names. I don't care for Anne or Nan as a short form. Nan wouldn't work here anyway as it's one of the most popular names for a grandmother (more popular than Grandma in the UK I'd say).As for a twin sister:Annabelle and Florence, Annabelle and Iris, Annabelle and Georgina, Annabelle and Felicity, Annabelle and Josephine.

I like Annabel, partly for its crazy etymology - which makes me totally reject Annabelle. But I also prefer Isabel to Isabelle. It goes well with your existing children. I wouldn't use it, though: I'd stay with Anne (my second daughter's mn, also mine and my grandmother's).Annabel and Beatrice
Annabel and Caroline
Annabel and Ruth
Annabel and Gillian
Annabel and Clare
Annabel and Rebecca
Annabel and Laura

I do think it's frilly but in a mostly pleasant way (as you said, upbeat). I don't know if I'd call it sophisticated, but it's not unsophisticated; it's a classic.I think it goes well with your kids' names, but I like the Annabel spelling more. My first thought was Annabelle and Olivia together. I could also see it going well with Athena, Camila, Mariah, Penelope, Dahlia, or Beatrix. But, if I were actually naming a twin, I'd just use one of my current favs for the other first name...Annabel and Esther
Annabel and Astrid
Annabel and Devorah
Annabel and Lorelei
Annabel and Amalia
Annabel and Rowena
Annabel and Miruna
Annabel and Gwendolen
Annabelle and Vivienne

I like Annabelle, and prefer this spelling. It's a little frilly, but that's part of her charm. I don't think it fits particularly well with your other kids' names - plain Anna has a more classic feel that "goes" better IMO.Don't care for Nan at all, and if I were planning to call her Anne most of the time I'd just make Anne the given name. Or would it just be an occasional nickname?Ignoring your other kids' names, I'd name a twin something else with a little frill... Annabelle & Lucia, Annabelle & Juliette, Annabelle & Madeleine Taking your other kids into account, I'd go with something pretty and classic: Annabelle & Victoria, Annabelle & Katherine, Annabelle & Sarah

I love Annabel. It used to be one of my favorites but it fell a bit out of favor, simply because I liked other names more. I also think the general belle/bella trend made me a bit tired of the name. I would be slightly worried that it would get shortened to Bella, Belle (this is not bad but it feels bland among all those Bellas) or even Anna or Annie which I both do not really like too much. Then there are all those Isabellas, Isabelles, Bellas and actually quite a few Annabelles too as it was in the top 100.I think that in a few years all of those bella/bella names will fall out of favor and even though Annabelle/Annabel were never that common they will feel dated and tired as well. However, I do not really care too much because I love Annabel. It was one of my favorites since childhood. I just love it, it is sweet and at the same time strong with a lot of history and a beautiful sound. I imagine a brown haired little girl who is sweet and loving, likes to take care of people and play outside. I also love its meaning.Annabelle is a different story. I do not pronounce Annabel and Annabelle the same. With Annabel I put the emphasis on the first syllable and with Annabelle on the last. Annabelle sounds and looks more frilly to me. Whereas Annabel is a cute girl who plays outside Annabelle is a cupcake with too much frosting or a doll in very frilly pink lace dresses. Also there is the horror movie Annabelle and this spelling makes me think more of the creepy doll with that name.Overall the Annabelle horror movies are pretty well known and I think a huge reason why this name is dropping so quickly.
