[Opinions] Octavia
I just randomly thought about the name Octavia and how it doesn’t really have any good nicknames, then I thought of one: Tay. What do you think of Octavia? What would you pair it with?
Personally I would go simple with one syllable, like Octavia June or Octavia Rose. It’s a heavy name.🌑🌘🌗🌖🌕🌔🌓🌒🌑

I'm pleasantly surprised to see Octavia has experienced a rather dramatic upward momentum the last few years! Octavia Spencer and, even moreso, Octavia Butler are wonderful inspirations for names.Agreed with a simple middle name - Octavia Rose is nice. I do like Octavia Estelle, but as an Octavia Butler fan I think that's more the rationale than the name Estelle itself.Don't care for any nicknames, though. I think this is one that a bearer can bear proudly. Tay might work as a nickname, but what else do you have? Octy?

I like Octavia. It's a bit dark/gothic but well known without being overused. It's like Victoria's cool aunt. Also reminds me of Octavia Butler. I think Tay is too cutesy and.. Taylor-y. Vi, Via, Tavi, Ovi (pronounced Avi?)... idk. This is why I prefer Octavia as a middle name! Octavia Joan

I prefer Ottavia. The Double T sounds a little bit softer than the C. It sounds a little bit more feminine and girly to me. But I do like Octavius and Octavian fine enough. Robust.

I don't know why, but I can't get on board with Octavia; perhaps as a middle name for a girl born in October.

It is a heavy name. I don’t like it mu h, and I don’t like any of its potential nicknames, including Tay

I second Wordsmith's suggestion of Tavi as a nickname. Might Tibby work?Octavia is bold and majestic. I like it very much. It's a yellow name, more urban than natural - like Lysandra!Octavia Constance

I've always liked Octavia. It's dramatic and different. It would work if you like music or a musician, since it is reminiscent of the word "octave". I'm of the view that nicknames can be made up of any letters and also sounds that occur within a name. So nicknames I've come up with are Vivi, Via, Tia, Tavia, Ottie and Otter. I feel like Octavia could work with names that are 1, 2 or 4 syllables. Also with names where the stressed syllables is the first syllable, which is a trait that a lot of names have.Octavia Joan

Octavia Dawn
Octavia Grace
Octavia Stephanie
Octavia Charlotte
Octavia Corinne
