Marian
What do you think of the name Marian? Too old? (Not that it'd bother me, mind, but it's good to know.) I glanced through a children's book on Marian Anderson while I was working, and I realized that I really like the name. It's got good connotations for me--Marian Anderson the awesome, of course, along with Marian of The Music Man.
(I think the real reason I like it is because while it reminds me of the name Lydia, since they have the same rhythm, I don't picture Lydia Bennet or Lydia the Tattooed Lady when I hear it, heh!)
Any ideas for nice combos? I'm sort of liking Marian Rae (though I like Philomena Rae more still) and Marian Tertia right now. (Both Rae and Tertia are familial.) Nothing in particular is jumping out at me right now, though, so if you have any suggestions, that'd be cool.

I LOVE the name Marian. It's one of my favorite middle name choices. I'd use it as a first name too if I ever liked it enough to do so. Actually I don't think it sounds that old at all.
I like Marian Rae. The R's blend nicely.

Marian isn't too old at all. I think the older names might come back. Anyway, I have an old-fashioned Irish middle name, and I like it. The older names have more meaning.
I think Marian is a sweet name. I think of the Robin Hood stories and of beautiful Maid Marion. For that reason, I prefer the spelling with the "o". In Arthurian myth there's a character Marrion with two R's, I like that spelling too.
