Shoshannah
Or whatever spelling you prefer. What do you think of this name? I don't see it mentioned around here a lot, and it isn't rated very high on my PNL (40% based on 21 votes). It surprises me that it's not better received. If you don't like it, what is the reason?I think it's gorgeous. It's so luxurious and red. I first noticed it when I had a friend in college named Mira Shoshannah. It recently popped up again and I've been loving it more lately.I tried making some combos, but it turns out to be a hard name to pair! I did like these ones:
Shoshannah Edith
Shoshannah Maren
Shoshannah Marian
Shoshannah Miriam
Shoshannah RosemaryDo you like any of these or have other ideas?

I love the name and have for years. I prefer the spelling Shoshana though. I also don't understand why people aren't so fond of it. I love Edith, Miriam and Rosemary as mns, they are all gorgeous names and work very well with Shoshana.

Shoundsh azh if she'zh shomewhat tipshy ... not to mention a native speaker of Hebrew. It is pretty, but I far prefer Susannah, Suzanne and even Suzette.

Don't like the names it's paired w/ on the list, but I do like Shoshannah. She may well be taken for Jewish by many because of her name, but that's fine... I get taken Jewish by some based on name and appearance. I think it's kinda cool. Some people just aren't used to it if they haven't spent much time around Jewish circles (or if they have, they may consider it kinda plain or normal like Susan... though I think Shoshannah is far nicer than Susan).Other ideas. Hmmmm... Pair these on whichever side you think they fit better since in some cases Shoshannah may work better as a mn.Renee

I like it just fine, but to me it seems too foreign and inaccessible, maybe a bit pretentious, so I'd never use it. I like Susannah more anyway, so I'd definitely use that instead. And, come to think of it, I don't think I like the two SH sounds so close together.

I love it.I used to dislike it, but it grew on me. It's just a gorgeous name, and it has history. I like that. It's funny how you see it in red, because I see it in midnight blue.I love Shoshannah Maren and Shoshannah Miriam.

Oh!I can totally see it being a midnight blue name. I love names that are that color, there are so few of them!

I like:Shoshannah Elise
Shoshannah Gillian -not usually a fan of Gillian (esp. w/ a G), but I like it here
Shoshannah Hope
Shoshannah Leigh
Shoshannah Tamar
Shoshannah Valeria - would like it better if it was Valerie
Shoshannah Winter -I don't usually like Winter as a given name, but it works w/ Shoshannah... I actually know a Susan whose maiden name was Winter.

That seems to happen to us a lot, doesn't it?! :)I like:
Shoshannah Elise sounds really close to my name, so I almost want to like it.
Shoshannah Bethany! Love it!
Shoshannah Noor

Yeah, but I have the excuse of being from a totally different naming suroundings, so I'm not surprised if my taste is a bit unusual for this board (where most people are English speakers).
You on the other hand just have 'weird' taste, LOL:-))

Apparently. :)

I can't say I love Shoshannah because of the repeated 'sh' sound, however, it is fun to look at and the nn Shoshie is kind of cute. I like this spelling best.Of your combos, I really like Shoshannah Miriam and Shoshannah Rosemary.

I love it. It reminds me of the beautiful Mélanie Laurent as Shoshannah in Inglorious Basterds. I really like Shoshannah Rosemary. Here are a few others:
Shoshannah Adele
Shoshannah Maëlys
Shoshannah Tamsin
Shoshannah Ivy
Shoshannah Cecily
Shoshannah Vivienne
Shoshannah Lavender
Shoshannah Beatrix
Shoshannah Odette
Shoshannah Elaine

Ha!Yes, it does remind me of her and Landa yelling, "Shoshannaaaaa!"Shoshannah Tamsin is nice, and I kind of like Shoshannah Elaine, too.

I personally don't like it.
It just is too much for my taste-too long, too many of the same sounds.

Susannah is much more appealing to me, but the sound of Shoshannah is whispering, both delicate and a little sensual. It's nice to hear, and I like it in theory, but it doesn't appeal to me visually and would be absolutely terrible should your daughter develop a speech impediment.I like Shoshannah Miriam and Shoshannah Rosemary.Shoshannah Isabelle
Shoshannah Margaret
Shoshannah Meadow
Shoshannah Zenith
Shoshannah Tempest
Shoshannah Eleanor
Shoshannah Noor

I love Shoshannah Tempest! Shoshannah Eleanor and Shoshannah Noor are both really nice, too.

Shoshannah Temperance is also nice. :)
vote up1
Ooh, it is! It's a bit long, though. I also thought of Shoshannah Temple, but that's probably a little strange with a "Jewish" name! :)

I strongly dislike that spelling because I find it too complicated and that is why I would rate it low. However, I would rate Susannah higher. This is the spelling I like the most (even though I'm most used to Susanna, the Swedish spelling). I used to dislike it because Susanna is a rather common name among women here and that maked it boring and "dated" (as for using it for a child). Susannah Rosemary would be really nice.
vote up1
Susannah and Shoshannah aren't the same name to me. Technically they kind of are, but they sound different enough and they both feel very different.I can understand it seeming like too complicated of a name, though. It is a bit heavy to say, but I kind of enjoy that about it!
