Elsa?
What is everyone's opinion of Elsa? I think it's glamorous and it reminds me of Elsa Schiaparelli and Elsa Lanchester. Also, middle name ideas are encouraged :)

Funny that you bring this name up. I've been thinking a lot about it lately (thanks "Frozen"!) and I must admit that it was never my style...until I saw the movie. Now, I find that I quite like it. Still not a top favorite, but it has grown on me. I see it as a feminine name, soft but strong at the same time (if that makes any sense).

I really like Ilse.I think it's a more elegant name than Elsa, which I also like.

How do you guys pronounce it? With an s like Elsie or a z like Ilse?Where I live, it's the s version every time. And I don't like it much - too close to drab Elsie. It's not unusual to encounter Afrikaans-speaking Elsa people, so I would expect a mn like Maria or Johanna.

With an "S"

Love it! It's old school but has the same feel to the popular names right now so it's not fuddy duddy

I hated a girl named Elsa in high school. I do like the name I just can't shake the association. Since seeing Frozen it's growing on me even more.

I think I must be in the minority here:) I really don't care for it much at all. I suppose it just feels sort of dated and not in a good way, to me. Not like Henry or Victoria, which I love and think of as old fashioned and gorgeous. Elsa just sort of falls flat and reminds me of a chubby old maid:)

I love Elsa. It is simple but spunky. I don't understand why it is not used more often, especially given the popularity of some other El- names.

I love Elsa and prefer it as a short form of Elisabeth. At least it sounds sophisticated unlike the similar Elsie. I find Elsa to be classic, glamorous and lush.

It gives me a bit of a sneaky feel. I think Ella is beautiful and Elsie is spunky and cute, but somehow the halfway point makes me uneasy. It's a nice name objectively, I like that it's short and sweet, but not dull.Elsa Maureen
Elsa Corinna
Elsa Juliet

I think its everything but glamorous.
To my Swedish eyes and ears, Elsa is very down to earth, old fashionated (but popular) and simple. But not glamorous.

It is an alright name. I don't love it, but I don't hate it. Now it makes me think of the Disney movie, Frozen.

I had a sibling set in my head once for the longest time: Elsa, Mimi (from Mary), Anna, Noël. I liked the symmetry of having all four letter names. You'll note that Elsa is listed first. It's been a love of mine since I was a child. Ms Lancaster is a big reason for that. I was hooked on old movies and she was a favorite. I love her and Charles Laughton together. Plus, the nn Elsie is adorable. I got so tired of, "(b)ut it's a cow's name," comments that I stopped suggesting it (on this and other sites). I'm thrilled it's finally coming into its own. :0)Elsa Mary / Marianne
Elsa Caroline
Elsa Juniper
Elsa Daphne
Elsa Charlotte (although the S and SH sounds aren't the best together)
Elsa Meadow
Elsa Catherine / Cathleen / Katrina
Elsa Julie
Elsa Bridget
Elsa Clementine
Elsa Holly
Elsa Dagmar
Elsa Clare
Elsa Gwyneth
Elsa Verity
Elsa Gwendolen

I had never really been fond of the name Elsa until the movie Frozen came out, and since then it has started to grow on me. My favorite name is Anna, so I was a little disappointed knowing one of my future kids would probably be named after a Disney princess (my FN is Ariel, born 1 year before the mermaid).Elsa Olivia
Elsa Elizabeth
Elsa Lillian

I think its suddenly come under a lot of scrutiny because of Frozen and therefore immediately everyone loves it. I like it, I prefer Anna, and I prefer Elisabeth or Elizabeth. However, I do prefer Elsa over Elsie because I think it grows better.
