Angus and Granville
WDYT of Angus and Granville? Do you think either of them are unusable in today's society? Especially Angus - It reminds me of Angus Deayton when I hear it (one of my favourite television personalities), but everybody says it reminds them of cows. So, I guess, to some people, it's the equivilant of naming a child "veal".Granville is after David Jason's character in Open All Hours, btw. David Jason is my favourite actor.

I love Angus, but I'm not big on Granville. I look at it too literally; its place name meaning of "large town" is exactly what I see in it. It sounds too generic for me to even accept as the name of a place, let alone a person. It might work for me as a middle name-- Angus Granville isn't bad. :-) Definitely less usual. Angus, I'm big on. One of the newest additions to my extended family is Angus Leo and I think his name is adorable. His parents hesitated because of the beef association, too, but went with it anyway and are very happy they did. It really reminds me of AC/DC before it does of cows, whether that's a good thing or not. :-/

I love Angus; although I'm quite familiar with angus cattle, it's never spoiled the name for me. Granville, though, sounds like a town, not a person. I'm afraid that it also strikes me as a rather ugly, grating sound.

I like Angus, esp. with the nn Gus. :b But the association with cows and beef is strong. I still like it, though. It also makes me think of the AC/DC lead singer, and also the movie and main character "Angus" (from the 1990s, I believe). Granville sounds a bit too much like a surname to me. Also makes me think of Orville Redenbacher. :b

Angus does remind me of Aberdeen Angus however I still like it a lot. I would imagine it on someone Scottish though. I don't paticulary like Granville as it really sounds like a place name especially because of the "ville" part. Also Gran reminds me of Grandma. Eleanor x

I've never known an Angus so the only association I have is beef. Granville seems, I don't know, very uppercrust. It would make an excellent mn, though. If I had known anyone by these names it would have made all the difference.

I love Angus but all I can think of when I see Granville is "G-G-Granville, f-f-fetch yer cloth."

I dislike Granville but I am biased because there is a major street in Vancouver with the name. I know a little boy named Angus; it's an okay name.

I think Granville is usuable today. I really don't like Angus, it reminds me of cows, too.-- Sarah

I'm afraid Angus reminds me of cows . . . All I think when I hear it is "beef?" Argus is a nice alternative.Granville isn't my style either, but it's better than Angus. It's not bad at all.
