[Opinions] Opinions of Kai
Just wondering what everyone thinks of the name Kai.
My 10 month old is Kai Gerald (Gerald was his late Grandfather's name), & it is a very uncommon name here in Toronto.
Most people say they love it & it suits him (he's a little redhead), but part of me still thinks it's a bit odd, which was never our intention. We just loved the sound of it, the spelling, & all the meanings. I'm not second-guessing our choice - I wouldn't change his name for anything - I just want honest opinions from an unbiased audience!
Also, my husband & I are trying for another baby, so any suggestions for sibling names for Kai Gerald?
Thanks!Lisa

I have a cousin named Kai. His name seems to fit his personality too, and though I had never heard it until he came along, it's not a bad name really. Almost any name is ok, so long as it and the baby "Fit each other".

I love Kai, I think it's so cool! I'm not a fan of Gerald, it's not really my style, but, since he goes by Kai, that doesn't really matter, does it? I think Kai is a great name!~Lully Lulla~

I adore Kai (and indeed Kaia) for a girl. It's a bit "bleh" for a boy now that it's getting popular, but I used to love it._____________________________________________________________________"Heaven's not a place that you go when you die, it's that moment in life when you actually feel alive."Elinor

Thanks for all of your opinions & suggestions!Right now, I'm really loving these sibling combos:Kai & Elliott
Kai & Chase
Kai & Ronan
Kai & Roman
Kai & Quinn - is this more of a girl's name now?
Kai & Griffin
Kai & HoldenKai & Laine
Kai & Lily
Kai & AvaAs you can see, we don't have much for girl's names. If Kai had been a girl, he would've been Kyla...can't exactly have a Kai & Kyla now, if our next is a girl!

I really like the name Kai. Something with a somewhat creative sound like Emerson, Gabriel, Avery, Savannah, etc. would sound nice with Kai (for a first name). For a middle name, I would go with another older or traditional name (i.e. Elizabeth, Benjamin, Abigail, Victoria, Edward, James, Henry, Samuel, Thomas, Olivia, Oliver, etc.) I really like Kai and Elliot / Elliott together. Elliot / Elliott would be a nice first or middle name. For a boy/girl siblings, I really like Kai and Summer. Or maybe Kai and Autumn? There's also Miranda. It's an older name but it has a contemporary sound to it. Same with Julian, Juliana, Adrian, and Adriana / Adrianna.

I thought of some other names. Since the Hawaiian meaning of Kai is ocean, how about another name with an ocean-related or water-related meaning? Something like Marissa, Marina, Meredith, Morgan, or Dylan would sound nice.

There's not many one-syllable names I like. I like Kai better than most other one-syllable names. I don't like it enough myself to ever personally use it on my own child, but I certainly think it's a fine enough name for someone else's child. I agree with you that it is slightly unusual, but I would say it's unusual in a good way. It's not common but it's not so out there that it leaves people wondering "what were they thinking?".

I love it. It sounds cute on a little boy, but I think it would also work very well for a teenager and an adult.
