[Opinions] Gabriel
I have never really liked this name, but I was going through papers at work, and it kind of hit me that it is actually really nice. My problem is mostly with the NN Gabe. I knew a completely obnoxious boy named Gabe when I was growing up, so that ruined it for me, but time and removal has faded the connotation, and on its own sound, it's not bad. I reflexively said I disliked the name because I always had, but with fresh eyes and ears, I think it has great potential.WDYT and any combo suggestions?

I love it. I'm not particularly fond of Gabe as a nickname, so I like it in the middle name slot better. Sebastian Gabriel has been my favorite combo for it for years and one I would consider using.

I love Gabriel, nn Gabe. It's one of those very handsome, masculine names that works well on a child or an adult. I also love the fact that it's Biblical and it has a nice meaning. I love the following combos:Gabriel Ethan

I like Gabriel so much lately. I can't see it anymore as a 2000's-trendy name--just as an archangelic one, with the same stately vibes as Raphael.I also like the nn Gabe a lot. It's a serious GP.My Gabriel combo is Rudolph Gabriel. So.

It's an excellent name, and one I considered for my own son, but I thought it ill-advised because my last name starts with a B and he would inevitably be called "Gabe." (Just put those two facts together, think about it, and think what other boys would do with his name at school.) As for a middle name, I think it depends entirely on what your last name is, and therefore how the names would all flow together. I realize you may not want to reveal that on the web.

I haven't seen you around much before the last month or so, but I noticed that you mentioned this to someone else. It is typically advised on this board not to reveal the surname, and while we all know already that surname is important to flow, we ask for combo suggestions anyway because any random suggestions might be good inspiration. You do not need a surname to come up with FN/MN combos, so please stop asking or commenting that because we're not going to change it, and as you have probably caught on by now, asking for combo suggestions is a big part of this board.

I didn't ask for a surname, and specifically noted the wisdom of not revealing it. If you think I'm trying to get someone to reveal a last name, then you should re-read my comments. My comments have not in any way sought to change your policies.

I know they're not trying to change policies; it's more to the effect of "we already know; stop beating a dead horse."

Maybe it's a dead horse if you're someone who reads every comment made on every thread. Otherwise, I don't think it's so bad to make a similar comment to two people.

It might just be the area, but of the two Gabriel's I know, neither of them go by Gabe. I suggested it to one as a nn when he complained there was no option, and he said he'd never heard of it. I don't think it is inevitable.Gabriel is ok, but it's not my thing.Gabriel Thomas
Gabriel Alexander
Gabriel Simon
Gabriel Louis
Gabriel Asher

William Gabriel and John Gabriel sounds appealing too :)Like any?

Quite a few people have suggested Gabriel Asher, and I really like it. Gabriel Isaac is handsome, too, and I really like John Gabriel.

I think I would use it as a mn only. Im liking the sound of:Alexander Gabriel
Henry Gabriel
Christopher Gabriel (though I dont know how that would work with Chris)and for some reason Alexander Joel jumped into my head as a lovely combo when I was writing this, so I figured I'd throw it in too...-Tate

I like it, but I would only use it as a MN. Gabriel is getting to be pretty popular, and Gabrielle is very popular for girls(at least where I live). Plus between 1990 and 2001 Gabriel actually made it on the girl's popularity charts, how sad. Anyways, like I said, I like it but I would only use it as a MN.
