[Opinions] WDYTO Kimberly?
For me, growing up in the 70s/80s I knew several...and now I don't know any little girls with this name. Is that for a reason? Do people not like it that much? What middle names could you put with it besides Ann or Marie? Thanks! :o)

I think lots of people see it as dated [probably because of the abundance of little Kimberly's running around in the 70s and 80s] and have therefore chosen not to use it. I used to despise it, but I've recently been considering it a bit more, and it's quite nice. I like that there are lots of nn's to choose from, though the one that's growing on me the quickest is Kimmy. As far as mn's go, I think it goes pretty well with any style of mn... classic, modern, trendy, etc.
Some examples:
Kimberly Margaret
Kimberly Claire
Kimberly Elizabeth / Elisabeth
Kimberly Haven
Kimberly Jocelyn
Kimberly Grace
Kimberly Evangeline
Kimberly Rhiannon
Kimberly Olivia
Kimberly Nadia
Kimberly Victoria
Kimberly April
Kimberly Lydian
Kimberly Bethan
Kimberly Madison
Kimberly Daria

I don't mind this name at all, but I prefer the spelling Kimberley. It seems that here in Australia, it's more likely to be Kimberley than Kimberly. I wouldn't mind seeing this name on little girls again, it would be cute. What about these combos:Kimberley Jane
Kimberley Rachel
Kimberley Hannah
Kimberley Sarah
Kimberley Megan
Kimberley Gemma
Kimberley Alice
Kimberley Renee
Kimberley Sasha
Kimberley Rose

I don't like it, probably because all the girls I know with that name who are my age (21) are chavvy and horrible. It's a name I associate with cheap hairdressers.S xx

I don't hate it, but I don't love it. I see it as a name that, though still popular, had it's real hey-day and is now and/or will soon be falling. I don't mind it, I suppose, but I'd rather see a Julia or something.I've always kind of liked my adopted cousin's name: Kimberly Ellen.

I still see it occasionally, and according to the SSA lists it's stil fairly popular, nuimber-wise. But I think it's kind of like Heather or Brandy: it had its heyday and then it fell out of favor. Also, more and more Kimberlys are mothers themselves now, so it stands to reason they wouldn't be naming their daughters after themselves.Kimberly Ann seems to be the default combo, but I've also seen Lynn, Michelle, Diane, Jo, Sue, Renee, Rae, Jean, Alice, Marie, Jade, Janis, Shawn, Denise and Yvette as mns.

I love the nn Kimberbut I don't care for Kimberly. I knew several growing up, but don't know any young children by that name.It sounds a little dated, and I don't really care for the -erly sound.

It's probably not as used much now because people now view it as an older name. Parents often choose names to be original and interesting, or they wouldn't want names they associate with a certain age group. For example, not many people would choose Ethel for a child today because they would associate it with older women. But in a few years time people may think, ooh that's interesting! We don't know anyone with that name.. and it may just come back in style again.Kimberly Susannah
