Violetta's Game of Life - Round 1
Round 1 - The engagement/weddingFirst of all, I’ve assigned each of you jobs and yearly salaries. If you’d like to, you may elaborate on your jobs and tell us a little more about them.Second, the engagement. How did you meet? How long did you date before getting married? What did you decide to do about last names (Did she hyphenate hers? Did he take on her name?)? And last, but not least, describe the wedding! I gave you each a budget on a scale of 1 to10. 10 being a Princess Diana huge wedding, 1 being married by a judge in your nicest dress, 5 being a pretty normal type of white wedding. You can, of course go below the number I give you.

The Engagement/WeddingDaisy and Ray met when Ray's first professional project, a state-of-the-art raised walkway between two buildings in Soho, London, was opened to the public. Daisy, being the architectal slut that she is, decided to attend the celebrations after her engineer friend Araminta managed to secure two passes.
Absolutely amazed by the structure, Daisy was more than keen to meet the man behind it all. Unfortunately, the man behind it all turned out to be a total dick who barely gave her the time of day, so Daisy ended up getting friendly with Ray, who was the humble deputy-site-architect. The two started dating, and, five months into the relationship, Ray proposed to Daisy under the very walkway that had brought them together (he's a romantic soul). The two soon married, in a ceremony in Hyde Park. Daisy, forever the video-game addict, came dressed as Lara Croft (although she thankfully wore the Lara-Croft-at-a-social-gathering-in-Japan outfit, rather than the Lara-Croft-in-a-dusty-old-tomb outfit). Her bridesmaids, Araminta and her younger sister Tulip were also made to dress in the video-game theme, as Yasmin from The Getaway and Zanthia from Hand Of Fate respectively. Her elder brother Narc got away with coming as a faceless cockney gangster. Although Ray point-blank refused to dress up as a video game character, he did wear some Pac-Man cufflinks, to please the bride. He also wore a kilt, because of his Scottish blood (i.e. his great aunt's cousin's pet scottie dog). The two decided to combine their last names after realising that Valentine-Driver sounded amazingly cool.Daisy is currently working on The Getaway III, while Ray has been promoted to site-architect, and is part of the team working on the Shard London Bridge.DH: Raymond James Valentine-Driver "Ray"

Alex and Elisabeth met at school and were childhood sweethearts. They grew apart during University but met again after graduation. Their engagement was only for a few months before the big day was planned to take place in Paris! The wedding took place in a small, medieval church and the bride of course wore white. Elisabeth decided to be traditional and take Alex's surname Briscoe. Alex is enjoying his job as a Paedeotrician as he enjoys working with children and he likes to help others. Elisabeth is working with children aged 6-7 at the moment and is enjoying the challenge.

House plan: European house plan 17-2079Pictures:
I didn't think we needed to get such a big house, it is almost 3000 sq ft! But Christopher said that we wouldn't want to have to move into a new house when we decided to have children. I was kind of shocked, we hadn't spoken much about having children and I sort of assumed that he wouldn't want any because he was so busy with his job. However he assured me that he'd only want about six children maybe seven. I burst out laughing, I couldn't help it especially not with him watching me indulgently as though no matter what I asked him for he'd do everything in his power to provide. I told him I wanted to have him to myself for a little while but I would love to have children someday. I was also surprised that he wanted to get our house a good fourty minute drive from the city so that instead of seeing all buildings out of my windows I saw trees and a poud. I decided to call our house Adela, which is spanish for 'Noble'.
Moving in was a big ordeal and his mother, Lily, insisted on helping me decorate it, not that I minded. She and I had similar tastes and soon everything was finished and in place. Not that I always knew where everything's place was and I had to spend many weeks living there before I fully accustomed myself to everything. I as found out that Chris enjoyed making pottery. I was so surprised when he told me I would have laughed except for a niggling feeling that he may not be kidding. He wasn't of course and one thing I love to do is spend a hour or so in the morning watching him mess around with the clay. Not that he messed around with it, he was very good at pottery, at everything he seemed to try. He would concentrate totally on the lump of clay and slowly mold it into something.

Wedding budget - 5Luke and I met in an English class while attending college. At the time, I was 19 and a sophomore, while he was 21 and a junior. We hit it off right away, discovered that we had a lot in common, and went on our first date. He was the type of guy I'd dreamed about my entire life, so I was thrilled that our relationship grew. We saw each other for nearly 3 years before he proposed to me at midnight on New Year's Day. Between our engagement and our wedding, we waited a little over a year, and were married on May 8th. He was 25 years old, and I was 23. We had the average wedding with our family and friends attending. We were married in the evening at the church that I grew up at with flowers and candles decorating the chapel. My sister was the maid of honor, and his brother was the best man. His sister was one of my bridesmaids, and my brother was one of the ushers. Aside from that, we also had a couple of really close friends as bridesmaids and ushers. I took his last naming, becoming Mrs. Jennifer Silva. It was absolutely lovely and my idea of a perfect ceremony.Luke stuck with his college plan to go into broadcast journalism, and is now working as a news anchor at a local station. I majored in English, planning to become a high school English teacher, but I found, while getting my credential, that I really enjoyed teaching at the elementary level. So, I now work as a 6th grade teacher at a local school.

Wedding Budget - 5Paddy and Anna met at college, where they were both getting their TA majors. More specifically, they met in his junior and her freshman year while doing Les Miserables at the college - he was Enjolras and she was Eponine. After graduation, they both auditioned to do Les Miz with a traveling dinner theatre company. Paddy made it in as Enjolras, and Anna as Fantine. They grew close during the seven-month run of the show, and when the show closed, Paddy asked Anna out officially. They were on their way to Broadway together when a family crisis sent Anna back to Ireland, where she'd spent ten years of her life. There, she began writing about theatre, and dance, and made a name for herself in Ireland and the US as a novelist. Paddy sent her tickets for Beauty and the Beast on Broadway, in which he was Lumiere, and she came back to see it. After the show, he took her to a party, and they caught up on life. She went back to Ireland, but she and Paddy kept in touch. Two months later, on Anna's 26th birthday, Paddy showed up on her doorstep with a rose, an engagement ring for her (and a matching one for himself), and a question.Their wedding was a small one, held in an old theater in California.

screenwriter, $100,000Jack and I have known each other for almost our entire lives. We grew up on the same street and started kindergarten together. Our mothers would always set up play dates between us, so it wasn't long until we were best friends. We started dating in our sophomore year of high school, but we broke up after graduation because I was moving across the country to Boston for college while he was staying in Seattle.A few years ago, I stopped at a local coffee shop before class, and guess who I ran into! Apparently, Jack had just gotten a job as an architect for a rather prominent agency and had been transferred to Boston. We decided to meet up after my class to catch up on things. It was just like old times and we immediately hit it off again, so only five months later, he proposed while we were vacationing in Hawaii. I, of course, said yes.The wedding wasn't a huge, lavish event. It was just family and close friends, perhaps fifty people at the most. The reception was held at the Four Seasons. Afterward, Jack and I spent three weeks traveling throughout Europe for our honeymoon (I especially enjoyed Italy). For the sake of simplicity, I decided to take on Jack's name, so I am now officially Kate Elizabeth Tennyson! We've settled in a nice brownstone in the city and can't wait to start our lives together.

Wedding Budget - 5 Andrew and I love our jobs. Andrew is pretty much obsessed, since he loves his medical feild, and he very much enjoys teaching and passing on the trade to others. I love my job, because though I don't get paid as much as if I owned Microsoft, I get to work with the sweetest class of fourth graders six hours a day! I also atomatically get weekends off, and that's nice, Andrew and I often spend time together on Saturdays, and go to Church on Sunday. Our wedding day was very nice. We didn't go full out expensive, because we wanted a fairly "extravagant" honeymoon. We spent countless discussions on where the ceremony would take place- Since we are both happy Christians, we liked the idea of having it in our church, but I also was pulling for in Outdoor wedding, the time period we had chosen had gorgeous weather (Early July). Finally we decided to have it outside ant Amabel's Nursery, a lovely garden with huge archways and lilacs, (for free- we're friends with the owners Shea and Nicholas) but we invited all of our fellow churchies, family, and friends, and had our pastor marry us. The guest list was rather long, since we included all of those people, which ended up making the catering pretty pricey. We budgeted a bit more on the clothes, Andrew wearing some nice pants and a white shirt, I had a lovely flouncy garden dress (I just kept wanting to flounce around in it).All in all the wedding was great, simple, but the garden and the weather rally made it special. It was sweet, all of the little animals hopping around, I actually had a butterfly land on my head while Andrew and I were saying 'I Do'! I didn't want to take his last name, so we kapt our own, but we do plan to give our children his.

Wedding budget - 4Chris and I grew up together and actually declared each other our husband or wife when we were only 4 years old... growing up we kept our little nicknames of husband and wife even when we dated other people out of habit. Of course because of a drunken night at my brother's wedding we slept together and got back together. Our wedding was nice and planned out only for family and close friends (of course with my huge family it wasn't as small as we had hoped). It was in the back yard of Chris's parent's beach house and it was wonderful.

Sara was hired at a hospital in Chicago as a cardiologost, so she and Michael moved there from Toronto. Michael began looking for an engineering job in the Chicago area and had a tough time at first, but fortunately he got an entry level position at the biggest development company in the city.Michael and Sara met at the University of Toronto in Sara's 4th year and Michael's 2nd, at a local health food store. They dated all through Sara's med school and Michael finally proposed the day after her graduation. Both have decided to keep their last names, but the children will have Michael's name. Sara's current work load with her new job hasn't allowed her a lot of time to plan the wedding, so she hired a wedding planner. They decided to make it a lavish wedding but with only 100 of their closest relatives and friends, since Sara's father is going to pay the bill. The got married on June 18th in an Angelican church the Michael attended as a child back in Toronto. The reception was held at Sara's father's house, and he spent a little over $60,000 on the food, staff and decorations. Sara's dress was custom made by her designer aunt, and cost almost $2,500 to make. Finally, the rings we simple gold bands that Michael bought himself, since he was still paying for her $5,000 ring.

As for Luke, his career took off after showing his amateur holiday photos to his uncle's friend, who has a career in brochure production. Because of our jobs, we travel alot, mainly to South America, which is where we met. We were both situated in Rio de Janeiro and instantly hit it off. On returning to the UK, we continued to see eachother and after 5 months we got a place together in Manchester. After being together 2 years, we engaged and then married in June. Neither of us being particularly religious, the wedding took place in a manor house in Staffordshire.

Well, Ron's job is teaching math to eighth graders at the local junior high school. He has established a good schedule, and since the junior high gets out earlier than the elementary schools, when we have children he'll be able to pick them up from school directly from work. We are very fortunate, as neither of us want a day care to raise our children. As for Camille, she accomplished her goal of getting her name in the lights all over the world. She travels around the world with the New York Philharmonic and is the highly acknowledged pianist for the orchestra. She travels all over the world, as was her dream, but has prolonged periods of time inbetween trips to spend with her husband.Ron and Camille met in the 6th grade, being in the same gym class. Camille eventually developed a crush on Ron, who was a great athlete as well as a great student and all-around good guy. In high school, he finally realized that she was the one for him and asked her out. They dated for 2 and a half years before the engagement. Camille took on Ron's last name, Piquet, which she adores. (She had not yet become too famous, so she decided to not hyphenate it.)Because both Camille and Ron are religious, they had a modest wedding in their religion's temple. Camille, who never liked extravagant wedding dresses, had a simple white dress. They used some of the money that would have gone into a big wedding to buy a nice, 3-bedroom house with plenty of room to grow and a REALLY big yard. Well, I hope that wasn't too long! :)

Patrick emplored her to stay, but she was conflicted becaus this new job is what she had been dreaming of all her life. She was worried about what would happen to their relationship, though, and was prepared to break things off. However, during a casual date at the coffee shop, Patrick presented a ring and asked for her to let him be the dream that keeps her in this city. She agreed and cried and declined the job offer, and they were married only a month later. They decided that she would take his last name, and she became Amy Kane Alexander.
