[Opinions] Quintuplets
A friend of mine, Sofia Elisabeth, and her husband, Padraig Brogan, are having quintuplets (three girls, two boys) in September. Sofia's not sure what names go well together. Their children:
Brogan Conor- 18
Rosemarie Ailis- 16
Malachy Tomas - 12
Talulla Kirsten, nn Talia - 8
Padraig Edvard- 6
Annelise Birgitta, "Annelie" or "Abbie" - 2
Here are her top picks, so far:
1. Desmond ______ (no mn yet)
2. Genesius Kelly, nn Gene (She's Catholic, and there's a Catholic saint named Genesius)
3. Carina Filippa, nn Carrie or Cara
4. Madailein Rebecka, nn Maddie
5th girl does not have a name.Any suggestions? The family, as you could probably tell, is Swedish and Irish. Thanks!

Hi. Not sure I'd put a name as obscure to most as Genesius w/ an androgenous name like Kelly... esp. if this is a boy, since despite being for either, many think girl before boy. w/ Desmond... Hmmm... Will star ones I really like w/ Desmond:
Pol
Sean
Shane
Bjorn
Cai or Caj
Carl
Christoffer w/ C or K
Elias
Felix
Erik or Eric
Gabriel
Greger
Hans
Jens
Jonathan
Josef
Lars (I quite like this 1 actually and it goes well w/ Desmond) **
Timothy *
Tobias *
VincentGirls:
Alannah
Noreen
Brianna (I wouldn't normally choose or recommend it, but those that seemed suitable were somewhat limited)
Norah (again, not high on my picks list, but recognizable to many even outside Ireland)
I'd suggest Sinead if it weren't for the fact that Sinead O'Connor has put a bad taste in the name for some.
Treasa
Antonia
Anja
Annika (except that it's becoming rather popular lately)
Bengta
Carolina
Caroline
Charlotta

They have such beautiful names! My favorites of the ones she already has are Rosemarie, Tallula, and Padraig Edvard. As for the quins names, I like Desmond. While I don't like Genesius and have never heard of it, I think it's cool to honor a saint, and it's cool to use an unusual saint's name.Hmm...What about Desmond Conlaoch? And for the fifth girl, what about Catriona Agnes?

The names most certainly go together, although Tallula might be the odd one out of the existing children, even if I love that name. (I love the meaning; it's not because of the celebrity baby!) Padraig Edvard is pretty awesome, though! :DAbout the top picks:Desmond - Nothing's really wrong with it, although it's a little heavy.
Genesius Kelly - I don't like this. I know it's for religious reasons, and the name's cool, but again, it's heavy. I'd love to meet a little kid named Gene though. xD
Carina Filippa - I like this. The names are just rare enough.
Madailein Rebecka nn Maddie - Spelling. :(What about Aisling?

Wow, those are some fantastic names!I think Desmond and Madailein fit really well with the rest of the sibset. Carina (especially with nn Carrie) sticks out like a sore thumb to me, but that's probably going to be just me.So, Genesius Kelly is going to be Gene Kelly? Is that on purpose or accidental?Desmond Carl is coming to mind.

I've never encountered a Carina w/ nn Carrie... Carrie's always been its own name to me... and the Carries I've known. (people named Carrie... not disease)

What would work better? Would Carina as a mn work with a diff fn?

Well, I liked Violetta Lavender's suggestion of Aisling. Some off the top of my head:Mairead (although, with Rosemarie, this might be a problem)
Moira/Maura (similar problem as above)
Finola
CarolineThe thing is, I have a bad association with a Carina, which is why I said it was probably only me who would think it was out of place. Ooh! What about Kerensa? Just a thought...And what about Desmond Gunther/Gunter? I know it isn't Swedish, but it has the same winter-y vibe I get from Swedish names...

Mairead is a form of Margaret. So I don't see any problem if there is a Rosemarie (Marie) or Moira / Maura in the family already. Or was your concern more similar sound than origin?

Similar sound. Imagine yelling for Mairead, and every other time, Rosemarie pops her head around a corner and goes, "What?!"

You do know that Mairead has an "ay" sound on the end, right? ("mah-RAYD" rhymes with parade.)Sorry to be pendantic. Mairead is one of my all time favorite names so I'm overly protective of her. :-)

Padraig Edvard!?*adds Edvard to list*
That's an awesome name, seriously. For Desmond:
Desmond Blaise
Desmond Fredrik (or any other spelling)
Desmond Johannes
Desmond Llyr
Desmond Ludovic (or Ludvik, Ludvig... whatever)
Desmond Paolo (far from Swedish or Irish, but it's a cool name)
Desmond Rolf
Desmond Seamus
Desmond Sergei
Desmond Sverre
Desmond Theodor (or Theodore)
Desmond VelimirAs for the girl, I think Kerensa, Ginevra and possibly Mollie go well with the others. If your friend is interested in any of those, she could try making combos from there. If not, well, I tried haha. Good luck to your friend! Her children have fantastic names, by the way.
