[Opinions] Ulysses
What do you think of this name? I met a little boy who had this name recently. He went by Ulie, though it's cute on a toddler, maybe that nickname won't age well. But still I like that it's a unique name that people have heard of before.
According to a name website, 18th President of the United States, Ulysses S. Grant, went by this name. At birth, his name was Hiram Ulysses Grant (Ulysses being chosen in homage to the mythological hero because Ulysses is the Latinized version of Odysseus) and the prospect of entering West Point Military Academy with the initials "HUG" embarrassed him, he began using the name Ulysses H. Grant until he discovered that he was erroneously enrolled as Ulysses Simpson Grant. He adopted this name and was from that point forward known as U.S. or "Uncle Sam" Grant. Interesting name history. But thoughts on the name in general? Possible nicknames? Possible combos? Would you ever consider giving it to a child? I feel like this one could easily become a favorite of mine.
