Please welcome Vitor Murilo (6) Rafaela Laís (5), Luna Cecilia (5), and Enzo Luiz (4)!Vitor, Rafaela, Luna, and Enzo come from Alagoas in the northeastern part of Brazil. Their single mother left them with their grandmother to find work as a maid after Enzo was born, and they never heard from her again. They were raised in extreme poverty, living in one room and sleeping on the floor with very little to eat. They have been with us since their grandmother died one year ago. Vitor is an active child. He enjoys playing ball with his sisters and wants to be a football star someday. When he was in his grandmother's care he had to beg for food regularly as the oldest child, so he is used to taking care of himself and doesn't like being told what to do. Rafaela and Luna are inseparable. They enjoy playing outside together and with their older brother. Rafaela wants to be a dancer when she grows up, and Luna wants to be a chef so she can cook the most delicious food in the world.Enzo is a curious little boy, always wanting to be involved in anything that is happening. Please let us know how Vitor, Rafaela, Luna, and Enzo are doing!

Hello! It's been just over a year since Vitor, Rafaela, Luna, and Enzo joined our family here in France. There have been some challenges, such as the language barrier. Noam had a hard time understanding that Portuguese wasn't the same language as Spanish and Vitor, Rafaela, and Luna had a hard time understanding that if they wanted to be understood by us they had to speak slowly, at first anyways. Tali and Enzo did not have this problem as much, being young as they are, and instead of conversing chased each other around and played rather than talked. They've become surprisingly close in a short amount of time. The four oldest children are currently attending a bilingual English-French school and excelling. There are two Brazilian teachers on staff and another Portuguese counselor that have really helped the process of getting the children acclimated along. We couldn't be more grateful, especially since the Brazilian teachers introduced us to a number of Brazilian families with children of similar ages to ours. Tali and Enzo attend the attached preschool and have thrived. The first few weeks of school were rough for Vitor, as he was not used to the structure of school and embarrassed by his inability to read. Fortunately, with a little intervention and support from his classmate and new brother, Noam, he quickly regained his confidence and has since made friends. The children have enjoyed our various trips, especially the one we took last month to Portugal. The Vitor, Rafaela, and Luna were thrilled to be back with their people (well, it was close enough) and took pride in helping us communicate with the natives. All in all, the last year has been incredible and we wouldn't trade it! We hope to take the kids down to Brazil in the next few years so that Tali and Noam can experience their siblings' culture first hand and that our four newest additions can see that their old home wasn't all that bad. Thanks for everything,
Ariel, Danny, Tali, and Noam

Please welcome Penelope Rose "Ellie" (7) and Oliver Royce (7)!Ellie and Oliver are twins from the southern United States. Their parents died five years ago in a car accident, and they have been with us ever since.Ellie is a bright girl who enjoys anything that brings her outside! She enjoys going for hikes in the woods and is very interested in plants. She would love to get the opportunity to go camping someday! She has blond hair that she prefers to be keep short, and she is tall for her age.Oliver also enjoys the outdoors, though he prefers swimming to hiking. He also loves to paint pictures of the people and places he sees. Oliver is shorter than his sister and his hair is slightly darker. Please let us know how Ellie and Oliver are doing!

Two years after adopting the twins...Ellie and Oliver have settled in brilliantly, and in the two years since welcoming them to our family we have been on a douzen camping trips as well as a couple of visits to Scotland.
Tobias, who was thrilled to finally get a little sister, has barely been out of the garden since Ellie has joined us. He regularly takes her out with Sam on hikes and has read book after book on plants and herbology just so he can pass that information onto Ellie. He has also been keen to spend time with Oliver, and the two boys, plus their father, often go on fishing trips whilst out.
Seb took a bit more time to adjust to the twins' arrival than Tobias is because there was only three years between them, however after two years he has fully accepted the twins and loves to play with them. Seb and Oliver can spend hours in the conservatory or outside painting from landscapes and from pictures, while Seb and Ellie just generally like to play outside together.
Apart from offering the twins a stable home after the tragic death of their parents, I have also introducted Ellie and Oliver to astronomy and poetry - both of which Oliver is finding particularly interesting. :)

Please welcome Elijah Joel (14), Stella Ruth (14), Benjamin Cade "Ben" (10), and Lucinda Clare "Lucy" (6)Elijah, Stella, Ben, and Lucy are siblings from the United States' Midwest. They came to us two years ago after their single father lost his battle with cancer. They had lost their mother one year prior to complications from pneumonia. It has been difficult to place them until now due to their desire to stay together. They are thrilled to finally have a family to call their own!Elijah and Stella are incredibly close. After their mother died when they were only ten they became largely responsible for the upbringing of Ben and Lucy, since their father was so often ill. Although they did have an aunt to care for them while their father was in the hospital, she paid them little attention. As such, both of these children are extraordinarily responsible and mature for their age. They both enjoy reading, although Elijah prefers historical fiction and Stella prefers science fiction. Both twins are tall and lanky with dirty blond hair and freckles. Ben is stockier than his older siblings, with darker hair. He has little patience for sitting inside on nice days and would much rather be outside kicking a ball or climbing at the playground. He has a pet guinea pig called Radar that he takes good care of, and is very excited to have a dog in his family.Lucy is a cheerful little girl. She loves playing with her baby doll and refuses to go anywhere without it. She also has quite the collection of stuffed animals. She wants to be a ballerina when she grows up and hopes to take dance lessons soon. Please let us know how Elijah, Stella, Ben, and Lucy are doing!

It's been a year since Elijah, Stella, Ben, and Lucy came to live with us and it has been wonderful. Elijah and Stella are 15 and have both gotten their learner's permits and are learning to drive. They are very good drivers because they are so responsible. They also help out around the house and with their 5 younger siblings. Ben is loving having two pets. He takes very good care of Radar and Molly follows him around wherever he goes. They especially like playing outside together. Ben has also started playing soccer. Lucy, Katie, and Alice have become the three musketeers. They share a room and spend all day playing together. While they sometimes bicker they love each other. All three are taking dance and gymnastics together. Having her sisters around has led to her not taking the doll with her everywhere but she still sleeps with and doesn't like to share it. Levi loves all the attention and that he always has someone to play with. Thank you so much for completing our family.John, Alex, Elijah, Stella, Ben, Katie, Lucy, Alice, Levi, Molly and Radar

Please welcome Mikkel Nikolai (15) and Oscar Jonathan (9)!Mikkel and Oscar are brothers born in Denmark. Their father and mother were convicted of robbery when Mikkel was 11 and Jonathan was 5, at which time they were put into the care of their maternal grandfather in Sweden. They have been with us since their grandfather's death one year ago. Mikkel recently revealed to us that their grandfather had been abusing both of them for the duration of their stay with him.Mikkel is a talented boy who enjoys playing the cello, which he has done from an early age. He has trouble interacting with other children his age and is sometimes aggressive toward them. He meets with a psychologist weekly, and he has been diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Since being in therapy he has become significantly calmer and more in control of his aggression, so we strongly recommend that he continue therapy when he is in your care. Oscar is a quiet child. Like his brother, Oscar has PTSD. He is often depressed and has a history of self-injury, though his demeanor seems to have improved in the year that he has been here. Since being with us he has picked up the guitar, and he is the most happy when he is playing it. Please let us know how Mikkel and Oscar are doing!

It's been two years since Mikkel and Oscar joined our family. It has been a really hard time for all of us. The change was initially a lot harder on Mickey and Ozzy (they called each other that, we went along with it) than we had expected. Ozzy seemed to be very afraid all the time. He would hide all around the house and he didn't say a word to anyone for the first three weeks. Mickey pretty much broke all the statues and vases we had in his first 4 days here. He hit Stef repeatedly, he screamed at us and even tried setting the house on fire. Stef kept asking us if we could "give them back". Our explanation that they were his brothers now, didn't seem to satisfy him. Fabian never spent so much time at his grandparents' place, helping our neighbour with chores, playing at his friends' house and anything else he could think of to not be home. Even we thought sometimes that maybe we had bitten off than we could chew with the adoption...After about a month and a half, some sort of shaky peace settled in the house. Mickey discovered our little studio area and spent a good deal of time recording himself playing the cello. Two weeks later he allowed me to play the piano with him. It was one of the happiest moment I've had with him. He really felt like my son after that. He was still aggressive though. Even his therapist was surprised that he really didn't seem to be improving like he had before he moved in with us. Ozzy became a little more communicative with me and Detlef. He still didn't like speaking with the other kids at all. He never even said one word more than absolutely necessary to Mickey. He enjoys playing the guitar, like he did before, only he gets very angry whenever Fabian plays.

Please welcome Deirdre Grace (7), Aidan Michael (4), Teodor Simon (6), and Irina Rahela (newborn)!Deirdre and Aidan were born in County Mayo in the west of Ireland. When their mother died shortly after Aidan's birth, they were left in the care of a perpetually drunk father. He often left them unattended and, if either ever cried in his presence, would verbally abuse them both. A year ago, their mother's brother came to their home and took them away while their father slept. Their uncle brought them to us with nothing but the clothes on their backs.Deirdre is a serious child and is very protective of her brother. She has difficulty letting him out of her sight, and is always wary of strangers. She enjoys listening to music and often sits at the piano to try and play, though she has not had the opportunity for lessons. She has straight red hair and brown eyes. Aidan is a happy boy who loves his big sister more than anything else. He likes to play with stuffed animals, and always begs her to play with him. He does not like to be alone. He loves dogs and has always wanted one for his own, so he was very excited when he learned that his future family has two dogs for him to play with and love! He has blond curly hair and brown eyes. Teodor and Irina come from Romania. They have been with us only a short time, as they arrived after their single mother died giving birth to Irina. Teodor is an easy-going child who enjoys playing outside by himself or with others. He likes to play football best (not the American kind!) and wants to be a sports star someday. He is very attached to his long dark hair and has yet to let us cut it!Irina is a bubbly little baby girl. She likes a lot of attention and loves being held by her big brother. Please let us know how Deirdre, Aidan, Teodor, and Irina are doing in your family!

Please welcome Ernesta Pilar (8), Emelina Ines (8), and Luca Matteo (13)Ernesta and Emelina are fraternal twins hailing from Spain. Born to a drug addicted mother and incarcerated father, they were taken away from their family at the age of 3 after being found dirty and malnourished in a police raid of their mother's apartment. They have remained in the adoption system ever since. Ernesta is a quiet child who loves to draw and read. She has recently begun learning English, and is excited to be able to continue to learn in your family. She is shy at first, but once she gets to know you she is warm and loving. She is short for her age with dark curly hair and brown eyes. Emelina is more outgoing than her sister, and a little taller too. She dreams of being a famous singer and loves to play dress-up. Emelina has always wanted to take singing lessons, and she hopes she will be able to do that in your family. She is excited to have a little sister she can take care of who also likes to sing!Luca comes from southern Italy. He lost his parents at the age of 10 in a plane crash that also took his older sister. He is still healing from his loss, and as such speaks very little. He has come a long way since entering the system though, and we are optimistic that with a real family he will be able to get some peace. He enjoys writing and is constantly taking notes in a little notebook that never leaves his side. He has expressed interest in becoming an author one day, and writing fantasy books for children. Please let us know how Ernesta, Emilia, and Luca are doing in your family!
