[Opinions] Moses?
1. Do you like the name Moses?
2. What are some good meaningful middle names to go with Moses?I am planning on adopting a little boy, and I want his name to be Moses. My cousin that I am very close to, who is also adopted, suggested it for his name. Moses was her favorite Bible character growing up, as he was also adopted and she felt a strong connection. I think this is a great connection with other adopted family members and out religion. (religion is fairly important to the family)
I like Moses David (beloved) and Moses Amadeus (loved by God) so far, but I want more options.

Moses Gabriel (Strong man of God)
Moses Daniel (God is my judge)
Moses Elijah (My God is Yahweh)
Moses Ethan (Solid, enduring)
Moses Ephraim (Fruitful)
Moses Jordan (Descend)
Moses Jeremiah (Yahweh has uplifted)
Moses Nehemiah (Comforted by Yahweh)
Moses Jed (Beloved of Yahweh)
Moses Raphael (God has healed)
Moses Timothy (Honouring God)

Moses TheodoreThis is one of my favourite combos for meaning. Moses is "A son" and Theodore is "A gift from God" so together you have "A son- a gift frm God." I think that is a lovely meaning, wether the child is adopted or not. I love Moses.Good luck :)

I like the name, but probably wouldn't use it myself (maybe as a mn I would). He's a great person to pick to honor, though.
Of names that others have suggested, I like Moses Ephraim, Moses Amadeus, and Moses Andrew.
Some other ideas are:
Benjamin Moses (son of my right hand)
Moses Nathanael (God has given)
Daniel Moses (God is my judge)
Moses Gideon
Luke Moses
Moses Seth (placed or appointed)
Jonathan Moses (Yahweh has given)
Levi Moses
Jared Moses
Moses Atticus (I know this isn't biblical, but I like it anyway)
Samuel Moses (God has heard; Samuel's mother Hannah prayed for a son, then dedicated him to the Lord: 1 Samuel 1:20b "She named him Samuel, saying 'Because I asked the Lord for him.'")

OK, back to the original questions!1) Do you like the name Moses?
It's not on my list, but I'd have no objections to seeing it on a child. I prefer it more as a middle name, but it would also be nice as a first name.
2) I like Moses John and Moses Andrew. If Moses were in the middle name spot, I'd say Benjamin Moses sounds nice.

1. Do you like the name Moses? No, not really. It's too strong connected to th Bible for me (but that's only my opinion.)
2. What are some good meaningful middle names to go with Moses? How about:
Moses Seth
Moses Xavier
Mose Victor

I don't particularly like it. It sounds too cute to me because I associate it with Moses baskets and the baby Moses, as well as it just sounding cute. And it also makes me think of a bombastic, moralizing, archaic bearded guy with the Ten C's. Not really any good associations. It's decent, though, my personal reactions aside.Moses Amadeus is a nice combo.

Anything but 'Amos Moses'.......1. I like Moses
2. Aaron would be a meaningful mn because Aaron was Moses' older brother. Personally, I'd name him Aaron Moses, but that's just because I love the name Aaron... :)If you want the name just because Moses was adopted, remember that all of us who believe in Jesus are the adopted children of God and His heirs.Of Moses David and Moses Amadeus, I like Moses Amadeus better.

agree...I agree completely, but think Aaron Moses might be a little too close of a connection? Kinda like I like the name David Jonathan, but I'm afraid it would be too close of a connection. Maybe not.

I'm not too keen on Moses myself but i do love the connection your cousin thought of!

Sighhttp://www.behindthename.com/bb/view.php?id=2830366&board=babyI like it; it's fine. I'm entirely sick of hearing about it, though. It needs a less Biblical MN or you get into cutesy territory.

I agree...Biblical names are so common nowadays that even if you had the combination Moses Jacob James John someone would have those names, and probably most of the nicknames you think of. Also two names from the Bible does seem a bit cutesy. I like Moses, but I'd like something a bit more unusual paired with it.

Two biblical names doesn't seem cutesy at all, imo. It's a way to honor one's religion, that's all. In fact, I'd prefer two biblical names over two tryndee names any day.

There was a thread about name themes not too long ago, and as I said there, I think anything can be overstated, and yes, I find two very Biblical names to be too much. That's just me. I don't care if you're honoring religion, Harry Potter characters, or British Prime Ministers -- one should tread lightly when using names from a very obvious category. + I guess in that sense, "cutesy" wasn't the right word. This explains my opinion much better than the OP.

You're right, religion is a category, but on a grander scale than Harry Potter or British Prime Ministers. (I'm assuming the OP is Christian, and the religion has been around quite a bit longer than Harry Potter.) It's a way of thinking and living, and if you'd like to honor that, you shouldn't have to tread lightly. But, we all have our opinions and yours is just as valid as mine, or his, or hers.

Yeah, everyone's opinion is valid, yet you still had to add that religion is a much grander scale. How does that work?Anyway, HP and Prime Ministers were just examples; you completely missed the point. Who are you to decide what merits importance in a person's life? For some people, these categories could be very special to them, so using two names from those categories is just as "grand" as using Biblical names would be to the Moses poster.Personally, I think they should tread lightly either way.I am not going to reply anymore. My comment was originally about the use of name themes, and you took it into "religion is more important than anything" territory. This is where I get off the train.
