I'm crushing on these two "G" names right now. Gwendolen has been on my list for years, but it's never occupied the limelight. Gustav has also been on my list in its French form, Gustave, but the Scandinavian Gustav appeals to me more at the moment. What does everyone think of these two names (independently)?

Some of your mn choices for Gwendolen are lovely, but I just can't warm up to it. Don't like Gwyneth either.
I do like Gustav a lot! Gustav Conrad sounds good to me; and from your list, Gustav Barnaby, Gustav Bernard and Gustav Marinus rather than Marius. And Gustav is the best thing that has ever happened to Reginald!

I like Gwendolen/Gwendolyn in theory, but couldn't use it since it would sound awful in Swedish. I'm not a fan of Gustav / Gustaf either. I just don't like the sound, and not 'Gurra' either which is a common nickname for it here.

I like Gwendolen, definitely one of my favorite Welsh names. I like the forms Gwendoline and Gwendolyn too (though I prefer the former), and I think Gwen is a nice NN. Gustav, on the other hand, is one of my all-time favorites. It reminds me of my love to history (as a Finn and a history student I've had to learn about the Swedish kings bearing this name) and my grandfather (his MN Kyösti is a variant of Gustav).
There are so many great combos in your lists: Gwendolen Iris and Gustav Casimir are my favorites today!
