Help[Opinions] Josephine
What do you think of the name Josephine? I'd like all of your opinions/ impressions of the name.
My husband and I plan on finally trying to conceive starting around this October. Josephine and Artemis are the only two names that he seems to like a lot out of my top 30 favorite girl's names. We are only starting to discuss names a little.
Do you think Josephine goes well with the last name V/arney? What do you think of these combos: Josephine Luna V/arney, Josephine Leona V/arney, Josephine Larisa V/arney, Josephine Iris V/arney, Josephine Mariela V/arney, Josephine Dorothea V/arney, and Josephine Artemis V/arney.
(Also if you are wondering our last name doesn't actually have the / behind the V.)

All the mn's I suggested were honoring.
Leona is a distant family name for my husband. My name is Marisa and both my mom and my husband's mother's name starts with the letter L so Larisa could honor all three of us. Mariela would keep with the tradition of using Mar- names on my mom's side of the family. In the family we have Maria, Marie, Mariana, Marian, Mary, and Marisa (me). My great grandmother on my father's side of the family was named Ella. I like that the spelling Mariela works in Spanish and English. I also like the spelling Mariella but it doesn't work in Spanish. I go back and forth about using a Mar- name as a fn or a mn. I like Marguerite, Marceline, Marcela, and Mariela.

Josephine is an awesome name. Throughout my life, I've never met a Josephine I didn't like: pre-school teacher, very first beautician / hairdresser, a friend's grandmother... most of them were, admittedly, older, but all were lovely women. Both Jo and Josie are cool nicknames.
As for your posted combos, I like Josephine Leona and Josephine Iris the most. I would also like to propose Josephine Eloise and Josephine Pearl.

Josephine is one of my all-time faves and I think it’d go particularly well with your last name!!

Josephine is very nice, I just don't care for Jo, Joey or Josie. But I do think that these nicknames are avoidable, Josephine rolls of the tongue and can easily be used without a nickname.
It seems to be getting popular but not so sure if it will last. It entered the top 100 and I am not sure if it will rise quickly or if it will fall again in a few years. In Canada it entered a while ago but then fell out again. It's one of those names where I don't feel like I can predict the popularity at all, I could see it easily falling out of the top 100 again in a few years but I could also imagine it in the top 20.
I think a two syllable middle name works better. However if you love Artemis you should go for Josephine Artemis. I definitely prefer Josephine but if you have a second daughter maybe you want to avoid Artemis in the middle to be able to use it as a first name later on? Not sure but something to think about. Josephine Luna is the best but Luna is getting very trendy.

I like Josephine with the English prn, so I wouldn't personally use it since I'm living in Sweden. I think it goes well with your surname and the combos that works the best are Luna and Iris, and I like Luna the best of those but out of all the middle names I prefer Leona but not paired with the FN and LN.

Josephine Dorothea is a good combo and flows with the surname.
